Chaos Column: Recap of PWG’s “The Perils of Rock ‘N Roll Decadence” 09-10-11

BTWNCHAOSNORDER’S gives a recap of PWG’s  “The Perils of Rock N’ Roll Decadence” from the American Legion Post #308.   About 300 people came to this event to see some hard-hitting PWG action, complete w/ a tag team making its debut, and another making his return to the promotion after a 31-month absence.

1 – Brian Cage-Taylor made Peter Avalon submit to a Modified Figure-4 Leglock, using his arms for the hold instead of his legs, after nailing Peter w/ a big Lariat.

2 – Willie Mack p. Ryan Taylor w/ the Frog Splash off of a modified version of the Chocolate Thunderbomb.

3 – The RockNES Monsters (Johnny Yuma & Johnny Goodtime) def. The Super Smash Brothers (Player Uno & Player Dos). Great see-saw battle that ended when Johnny Yuma p. Player Uno w/ the team Fireman’s Carry Slam finisher from the middle rope. Very narrow choice for my match of the night, and the crowd really appreciated what the SSB gave in the ring. Maybe I’m getting too carried away w/ this, but w/ the great tag team work by The RockNES Monsters, I think ROH should think about booking this So Cal duo for a show or two.

4 – Eddie Edwards p. T.J. Perkins w/ a reverse cover, countering T.J.’s armbar submission hold. Another great see-saw battle.

5 – After intermission, El Generico p. Rocky Romero w/ the Top Rope Brainbuster

SM – Tag team title match. The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) def. The Dynasty (Joey Ryan & Scorpio Sky) to retain the PWG World Tag Team Titles. Matt Jackson scored the pin on Scorpio Sky off of More Bang For Your Buck, to end the match that was full of dirty tactics by both teams. Kevin Steen later cleared the ring out to get the main event going.

M – Kevin Steen retained the PWG World Championship by making Davey Richards submit to a Sleeperhold off a series of Superkicks and a Small Package Piledriver to end this big see-saw battle. El Generico later ran into the ring to challenge him for the title at the next show. I was calling for a Guerrilla Warfare match myself, but Kevin Steen had a better idea, essentially–one unprecented in PWG….A LADDER MATCH!

That’s right, people. October 22, Kevin Steen & El Generico will be having a ladder match for the PWG Championship. Ricochet is scheduled to make his return in a match w/ Chuck Taylor, and Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly are scheduled to make their PWG debut next month.
