On WSXtra, Matt Classic debuts against Matt Sydal, and The Trailer Park Boyz go up against D.I.F.H. Wrestling Society X: Episode 2 (Sneak Preview Airdate: February 2, Official Debut Airdate: February 5)
-The show opens up with a quick rundown of what will be shown on this week’s episode. After that, the usual intro is shown and Three Six Mafia finishes up a song right after. Kris Kloss and Bret Ernst welcome us and recap what happend on last week’s episode.
The Human Tornado vs. Luke Hawx
-Tornado had his own special entrance for this match. He appeared on a balcony above the studio and climbed down a ladder (and not an elevator, as someone over on another site said) before entering the ring. This match was what you would expect, a spotfest. Tornado was able to get his usual spots in during the match such as no selling a low blow and then slapping his opponent, and a huge flip over the top rope to the outside. The finish came when Tornado hit a Tornado DDT from the top rope after reversing several Irish Whip attempts by Luke. This wasn’t really much of a match. Luke got very little offense in on Tornado. This did a really good job at establishing Tornado, and helped him get pretty over.
After the match, Aaron Aguilera ran in and attacked Luke to get some revenge on him for costing Kaos a chance to be WSX Champion. Al Katrazz ran in for the save, then Kaos ran in with a ladder. Al Katrazz was setup on a table while Kaos went up to the top rope. Aguilera was distracted and flirting with girls at ringside, and Luke took advantage and kicked Kaos, which sent him through the table right after Al Katrazz got out of the way.
-After a commercial break, The Filth and the Fury (Teddy Hart & Matt “M-Dogg 20” Cross) cut a quick promo claiming to be the craziest tag team in the world. They then issue an open challenge to anyone in the world for next week’s show.
That 70’s Team (Disco Machine & Joey Ryan) vs. Team Dragon Gate (Genki Horiguchi & Masato Yoshino)
-Before the entrance of That 70’s Team, GQ Money starts to do some dancing while introducing them. I couldn’t stop laughing for some reason. Disco did his usual dance, while Rick Knox stood on a step ladder while holding Disco’s disco ball above his head. Basic tag match. Yoshino caused Joey to get blown up within the first minute of the match by making him run the ropes for awhile, and moved out of the way when Joey went for a dropkick. This caused Joey to take a quick break so that he could use his inhaler. The match continued with Disco being double teamed, then went at it with Genki for awhile. Joey was tagged in and after a few seconds he went for a German Suplex, but ended up getting tights pulled down after a sunset flip by Genki Horiguchi. Ugh. That terrible. Seriously. Joey needs to stop showing his ass so much. The match continued with Disco and Genki going at it on the outside, and Joey and Masato inside the ring. The match ended when Joey hit a superkick on Masato for the pin. Decent match, and it looked heavily edited. I’m sure it would have been better had the match not been edited heavily. Joey’s ass made things worse. After the match, Genki smashed Disco’s disco ball. Disco then cried as he was gathering the broken pieces.
-A promo for the Trailer Park Boyz airs, with Johnny Webb sitting in front of a trailer and drinkin a beer while talking about his team. Then the Tralier Park Boyz cut a promo, and they ended up fighting with eachother while Webb stood above them, yelling at them about how they’re a bunch of idiots. They mentioned Brian Bosworth in this. Best promo ever. Then it’s announced that they’ll be debuting on WSXtra and that they have accepted the open challenge, issued by Matt Cross and Teddy Hart.
WSX Championship Match: Vampiro vs. 6-Pac
-The match starts off with 6-Pac spitting in the face of Vampiro with water and spin kicks him in the face. Vampiro then hit a spin kick of his own a few moments later. 6-Pac got some control again, and hit a Bronco Buster on Vampiro. He was going for another, but was caught by Vampiro. Pac broke free from Vampiro’s choke after hitting him with a low blow, but was caught with a boot to the face by Vampiro. 6-Pac gained the advantage after Vampiro missed a twisting senton splash, and hit a nice Tope Con Hilo over the top rope on Vampiro. There was some brawling on the outside for awhile, which saw Vampiro send 6-Pac into the ringpost, crotch first. Vampiro setup a table, but 6-Pac set Vampiro up on the table and climbed up to the second rope. Vampiro got up and ended up being put through the table with a Tornado DDT. 6-Pac hit a 6-Factor on Vampiro for a nearfall. He dragged Vampiro to the ring apron and was teasing putting Vampiro through the casket at ringside. Vampiro hit 6-Pac with a low blow, and ended up hitting him with a Tombstone Piledriver, causing the casket to explode for the win. Decent match. There was some neat stuff in the match, and fans seemed to buy into the nearfall after 6-Pac hit his finisher.
-The show ends with matches announced for next week’s show, including a TLC match between Luke and Al Katrazz against Kaos and Aguilera.
WSXtra: Episode 2
-The show starts off like last week’s. Usual video introduction, and Lacey and Fabian recap Vampiro’s title win. After they recap Vampiro’s win, there’s a segment with Johnny Webb talking about how he didn’t like the way his team came off on the show.
The Tralier Park Boyz (Nate Webb & Josh “Jug” Raymond a.k.a. Josh Abercrombie) vs. D.I.F.H. (Tyler Black & Jimmy Jacobs)
-Tyler Black comes out, being angry, and Jimmy Jacobs holding a cell phone above his head and waving it around in a calm manner. Lots of fast paced action to start things off. While Tyler Black was in the ring and taking a beating from the Trailer Park Boyz, Jimmy Jacobs was standing around and talking to girls. Webb and Raymond worked pretty well together as a team early on in this. Josh hit a really nice tope con hilo onto Jacobs. They started to go at it on the outside, and Josh had Jacobs setup for a splash by Nate, but Nate ended up being crotched on the top rope by Tyler Black. Jacobs had both Trailer Park Boyz on the outside, and Black hit a running standing moonsault to the outside onto both Trailer Park Boyz, and Johnny Webb. D.I.F.H. worked over on Josh, while Jacobs kept telling Tyler to take it easy. Jacobs had Josh in a Camel Clutch, and when the referee was distracted by Nate, Tyler Black ran in and hit Josh with a running dropkick to the face. Jacobs told Tyler to calm down, and then applied a Cattle Mutaltion on Josh, and Tyler ran in and hit a standing Shooting Star Press on Josh. They continued to argue ’till Tyler went to work on Josh. D.I.F.H. kept cutting off Josh from getting the tag from Nate. When he finally got the tag, Nate went to work on Tyler while Jimmy just stood in the ring and continued to flirt with girls at ringside. Nate threw Jimmy out of the ring and was able to get the advantage on Black, and hit a spinning facebaster side slam from a powerbomb position to get the win. This was a really good match. I really enjoyed the interactions between Tyler Black and Jimmy Jacobs in this, and it looks like their angle could lead up to some pretty fun stuff. So far, the best match of the series in my mind.
Matt Classic vs. Matt Sydal
-Matt Classic overpowering Sydal early on, and the only offense Sydal got in at the begining were kicks. Matt Classic had Matt Sydal in a stomach claw to take advantage of the match. Classic went to throw Sydal off the top rope, but Sydal was able to counter with a flipping head scissors take down, sending Classic into the corner. Sydal then hit a running clothesline, landed on the apron after diving between the middle and rop rope, and hit a springboard dropkick to Classic, who was in a seated position. Classic kicked out of a pinfall shortly after and had Sydal in a nerve hold. Sydal was able to crawl under the legs of Classic, and hit a Victory Roll for another nearfall. Matt Classic hit Sydal with a Polish Hammer and realse inverted suplex. Sydal was able to put away Classic with a reverse rana, and went to the top and hit Classic with a Shooting Star Press for the victory. Very fun match. Matt Sydal sold Matt Classic’s moves really well, and Matt Classic’s schtick was showcased really well in this.
After the match, Lacey and Fabian recap what happend between Kaos and Aguilera, and the angle between them and Luke & Al Katrazz. After that, they showed Kaos and Aguilera confront eachother, with Kaos being upset at Aguilera, and setup the TLC match for next week. After that, Three Six Mafia is shown backstage with the Trailer Park Boyz.
Overall, much better shows than the first week, as expected. The editing wasn’t as annoying as the pilot shows. I’m still not a fan of Bret Ernst’s commentary, as he doesn’t seem to add much. I was also disapinted by the lack of Three Six Mafia commentary. I expected a lot more from them. WSXtra was the better show of the two, as the matches had a lot more time. Both matches put over the characters really well, even with the limited time that they were given.
