Mister Instant Replay Interview

by Jason Ray

We are right on the heels of Highway To Hell, High Risk Wrestling’s biggest shows. To help promote the show I got the chance to talk to “The Mack Daddy Of Sports Entertainment,” Mister Instant Replay and decided to ask him an assortment of questions.

Jason Ray: First question, “The Mac Daddy Of Sports Entertainment.” Where did that come from? Isn’t the name “Mister Instant Replay” enough?

Mister Instant Replay: I have no idea how I came up with that. And no.

Jason Ray: Let me ask you some of the most typical questions that are most asked in interviews. When, why, and how did you get involved in wrestling?

Mister Instant Replay: My parents got me into it when I was a child. Ironically my first t-shirt as a baby read “Champion of the World.” I grew up watching it and finally decided to train with Revolution Pro. The rest is history.

Jason Ray: When did you decide to grow your hair really long?

Mister Instant Replay: I’ve been growing my hair since I can remember.. probably 6th grade. I wanted to look like Bret Hart.

Jason Ray: Did anyone ever tell you that you look like Anthony Kiedis circa 92?

Mister Instant Replay: No.

Jason Ray: He’s probably your real dad. Where did you come up with the name young bucks?

Mister Instant Replay: Joey Kaos came up with it when FCW first started. Him and Mongol the “Fighting Santino Brothers” needed a young team to wrestle at their very first show. Kaos told Mongol that they should bring out those young bucks they saw work at a Hybrid Pro show. The name stuck. Funny enough, Nick and I didn’t even realize that they were referring to us when we read the card and saw “Fighting Santinos vs The Young Bucks.” We found out the day of the show. The rest is history.

Jason Ray: Can you explain the creation of HRW?

Mister Instant Replay: We live in a pretty small town that does not offer different types of entertainment. Because the majority of us were already working the Southern California independent circuit we decided we wanted to try our own thing. With support from family and sponsors we earned enough money to purchase a ring, trailer, chairs and monthly rental fees for the local skating center. As time went on, our small wrestling company started drawing bigger and bigger crowds. Eventually we started bringing out more local talent and expanded our roster. Now we have become local semi-celebrities. Everyone in the area knows about us.

Jason Ray: What’s one of the craziest moments in HRW history?

Mister Instant Replay: Our first show was kind of a shock. We ran out in Lancaster and were amazed to draw about two hundred loud fans. We were seriously expecting nothing! It was our first event. Crazy moments.. hmm.. It was kind insane watching Shannon Moore and Chris Kanyon perform in an HRW ring. I never thought I’d see that.

Jason Ray: Tell me about that costume match you had awhile back.

Mister Instant Replay I wrestled at a joint show between Rev Pro/C4/AWS. Myself, and a few of my buddies were featured in the C4 match in which we all dressed up in funny costumes. It was one of our first matches. I was working under a hood that looked similar to a dog. My gimmick was completely covered and furr.. it even had a tail. American Wild Child told me I would be wrestling as “Fluffy the Dog” right before we went out. I actually got some “Fluffy” chants. LOL. Slick Nick my tag partner was the “Santo Referee.” He actually dove on all of us. Diablo was also in the match dressed as a “Mullet” and Sexy Sonny Samson was some Wolf looking dude.

Jason Ray: What is your life like outside of wrestling? What do you do for a living? What do you do on your free time? Got any hobbies? Have a girlfriend?

Mister Instant Replay: I enjoy hitting the gym Monday through Friday since I wrestle on weekends.. What do I do for a living? Dude, I am a professional wrestler. Duh. And yes I do have a Mrs. Instant Replay that I love very much.

Jason Ray: What’s your favorite color? I’m gonna guess banana yellow. That’s a fun color.

Mister Instant Replay: Banana yellow.

Jason Ray: Awesome! Now you owe me VIP tickets to the next show! All the pizza I can eat! Score! Highway To Hell! One of HRW’s biggest shows of the year is coming up. What are your thoughts on that?

Mister Instant Replay: We have worked so hard for this particular event. The entire gang has really come together and we are totally psyched. I can’t go out in public without someone saying “Dude, I saw you on a flyer for this H2H show!” That’s def cool.

Jason Ray: You’ll be fighting Sexy Sonny Samson once again for the battle of Steve. Seriously man, WTF?

Mister Instant Replay: Samson and I make for a pretty entertaining match. I am def looking forward to it. And hey, exactly what is wrong about fighting for custody of a young minor boy?

Jason Ray: Not that there is anything wrong with that. You could say HRW has evolved over the recent years. When I first came to the shows there was very little storyline and it wasn’t very good. Now it seems that every match has an interesting storyline going on and the wrestling has gotten much better. What are your thoughts on that?

Mister Instant Replay: We have really tried to better the quality of the story lines. It gives reason for the fans to come back week after week. Too many independent wrestling companies just put together “throw-away” matches with no meaning. We try to make it a bit more interesting.

Jason Ray: Your dad, Classy Mister Masse has gotten himself in the ring a few times. I see your Mother at shows sometimes. You ever think of training her and putting her in the ring to work your shows?

Mister Instant Replay: Yeah, I have considered that. But then I remembered she was my mom so I snapped out of it.

Jason Ray: Last year when Kanyon made an appearance at HRW the skating rink was packed. Are you expecting a large attendance for Daniels and if so what do you plan on doing to keep them coming after he leaves?

Mister Instant Replay: We are prepared for a very decent draw. How do we plan on keeping them coming? We just got another venue that we will be running at that is extremely up to date.. Half a million dollars worth of media, huge locker room, a stage and a jumbo screen. This happens as early as August 10th.

Jason Ray: Wow, that is like the coolest thing ever. You heard it here first folks, HRW is gonna be big pimpin’. Spending Cheese! Is there any local talent you’d like to see in HRW?

Mister Instant Replay I would like to bring in dozens of workers. It is just tough because we run on Thursdays and it is quite the drive. The Manley Bros will be making their debut Thursday night along with Super Gavacho. We plan on bringing out others as time progresses.

Jason Ray: What was your best match ever?

Mister Instant Replay: Myself vs Slick Nick at HRW last year was extremely good. Samson and I had a tremendous match at HRW and another good one as Hybrid Pro. Working at the legendary Grand Olympic Auditorium in front of thousands with the Los Luchas was also unbelievably fun. Nick and I had a pretty cool match against Arrogance a few months back also.

Jason Ray: Sounds like you got a lot of best matches ever. How can anyone have a not cool match against Arrogance? If some genie showed up and granted you three wishes what would those wishes be? Don’t be an ass and wish for more wishes or money.

Mister Instant Replay: A full time contract for a major wrestling organization…and more wishes and money.

Jason Ray: Ass, recently you started working for one of my other favorite shows, AWS. How’s that been?

Mister Instant Replay: AWS is awesome. We love the locker room and are having a blast. Bart puts on some good shows.

Jason Ray: You know what marks love is crazy behind the scenes stories. Do you have any of those?

Mister Instant Replay: Just the other day I worked up north and was shaking hands backstage. I saw a pretty big African-American sitting down on a stool. I could not tell if he was a wrestler because I didn’t see a bag next to him. I figured I would be nice and come introduce myself anyway. I said “hey man, nice to meet you.. my name is Matt.” He answered back in a very deep voice, “nice to meet you Matt, my name is Kamala.” I had an embarrassed face. Later on in the night the WWE Hall of Famer eliminated me in a huge battle royal. It was awesome!

Jason Ray: I don’t blame you for not recognizing Kamala, there is like ten of them.one of them is four feet tall. Speaking of fat people, What’s your favorite snack food?

Mister Instant Replay: Payday Pros. These new Paypal protein bars. Yum.

Jason Ray: Do you have any words of advice for the fat fucks who just watched Nacho Libre and said to themselves, â?oHey I can do that shit! Sign me up to the nearest training!

Mister Instant Replay: Wait. You have to train for this? You can’t just put on stretchy pants and hop in the ring like Jack Black?

Jason Ray: I don’t know, I never saw the movie.

Mister Instant Replay: No but seriously.. Try it out. You will know after the first time you train if you really want to do this or not. It is not for the weak at heart.

Jason Ray: Any final words for the fans?

Mister Instant Replay: Peace out children. The M.D.O.S.E has to go workout.

Jason Ray: Thank you for your Time MIR..M.D.O.S.E, peace and chicken grease! Come check out Highway To Hell This Thursday July 27! Visit Highriskwrestling.com for more details!
