Concussions

Get well Joey Ryan and be careful when you return.

More and more people in the world are realizng how serious concussions are... except pro wrestlers. Sean Waltman brags about the dozens of concussions he's had like its a good thing. His brain is so destroyed he doesn't realize he's still dating Chyna. Bret Hart got a concussion from Goldberg and "toughed it out" for the next week. He's never wrestled again. That Tough Enough Harvard Chris tried to work through a half dozen concussions and hasn't wrestled in who knows how long.

Pro wrestlers' ignorance on concussions is pretty similar to football players. Just recently, Chargers QB Drew Brees got a concussion in a game, was obviously not feeling too keen but decided to "tough it out" and try to keep playing without telling anyone. After a few plays, his coach clearly realized he was fucked up and took him out of the game. Brees is a lucky son of a gun!

I have a friend who got three concussions in three years in high school football. He developed a stutter and his memory is nowhere near as good. The only positive is that I am clearly smarter than him now which brings up my self esteem.

So in conclusion: concussions are terrible (please ask Tom Walters and he will concur) and must be treated seriously. The more you get, the easier they are to reoccur. Don't take any chair shots Joey! (or lariats to the face)

Justin

I back this post 100%!

I've had a few concussions and look how retarded I am.

Seriously though, I hope Joey takes a lot of time off, this shit isn't worth jeopardizing your long term health for. Anyone that brags about concussions or treats them lightly is an idiot. They won't be bragging when they're 30 years old and sound like Muhammad Ali. Plus, didn't Brian Ong and that EWF kid try to "tough out" concussions?

I've had a total of 5 concusions since i was 12, football is a fucked up sport to play injured. I had 1 concusion and was to retarded to stay out the game and ended up passing out on the feild. Like Tom said, their no joke, anyone who is dumb enough to brag about concusions obviously hasn't had any before. Half the time you can't even remember anything from a few hours before. I don't even remember getting hit, or anything from that day at the hospital.

I wish Joey the best, I just hope he realizes how serious it is, if he's blacking out, he needs to take as much time off as possible, other wise, he should just kiss his career goodbye.

I have had a fuck load of concussions and it has made a major difference on my memory. I've been lucky enough to not have chronic head aches, but my short term memory is shot. Yes I took a lot of LSD in high school and my early 20's (AN AWFUL LOT), and yes I smoke weed virtually every day. But it is without a doubt the concussions that have left noticeable damage on my dome. That said, I wouldn't do a thing over. You only live once, make the friggin fucken most of it.......

I got a pretty good concussion taking the Doomsday Device from Shawn Riddick and Supa Badd. I never lost consciousness, but the lights were on with nobody home, that's for sure. One of the scariest things that ever happened to me, in the ring or otherwise. I drove all the way home to LA from San Diego that night, that was the second scariest thing. The third scariest thing was that I wrestled for WPW two days later. Not so smart.

Yeah concussions blow, when I played high school football I was ALWAYS the smallest player on the field so I had to sacriface my body to make tackles. I can't remember how many times I blacked out and had minor concussions. My worst one was when I was hanging off a soccer goal post and hit my head. I thought it was a headache so I ain't a burger. Then I kept throwing up the whole day. Throwing up your stomach acid is the worst pain your stomach might ever feel. Concussions suck.

Get better JOEY RYAN!

This thread amuses me because Justin makes a PSA about how horrible concussions are and then everyone has to come out of the woodwork and brag about their concussions.

But you guys are so fuckin tough man, you are dope as hell.

LOL

I am also friends with the dude that Justin is talking about and he is different because of them. He still attends SDSU and is going into the Air Force. CRAZY SHIT!

PS: I've never had a concusion and from the looks of it, I hope to never have to experience one. I did, however, hand them out in football

I wrote an article about this topic a few years ago:

I'm happy I'm not alone in my thinking.

concussions suck

but what sucks worse that football players go through are hamstring injuries and tears in their knees. but yes concussions are very bad. when your playing for a state championship not a damn thing will keep you out of the game. and becuase of that the quarterback for my high school team lost his scholarship to the university of michigan and had to settle for saginaw valley state university how sad.

Judging on your posts and physical appearance alone, it would suggest to me that you have had many, many head injuries.
