Hey all just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I'm the owner of the nwa/cpw here in California. Didn't realize there was stuff on our promotion on this board. Seems some like some of you like us and some don't. Hard to please everybody but we try.

Basically I started this promotion last fall. I've got a corporate sponsor behind it which means that the shows are bought shows and the guys have no fear of getting paid, lol. I think we treat them pretty good, make sure they have plenty of food after the show and drinks as well.

I started in the wrestling business in 1985 in the AWA. I worked full time for a number of years in Canada on the indies(Tomko in the winters and Dupree in the summers). In 1990 I headed to Mexico and partnered with Eddie Watts and Rick Patterson (Leatherface in Japan) and worked for a couple of years with EMLL as Los Animales. We had a great run there. Basically I've been around the block a few times.

As we all know, wrestling is a changing business. When I started this company I wanted to be able to provide work for some guys and not lose money. Wrestling is not fun when you are losing money. So far we have achieved that goal.

We have taken baby steps that I think are smart. We are growing slowly but surely. I've got plans for the summer and the fall that will see the company grow again.

So far our shows have been entertaining. The guys work their asses off for me and I respect them for that. I've formed a relationship at the New Japan Dojo here in LA and have been able to get three of them a private audience with the people from that company. The New Japan people were impressed enough to invite them back to work with two of their workers at the dojo next month.

I appreciate all of your support. For those of you who don't like us, bear with us as it is going to be an interesting year and hopefully I can win you over.

How when every show is free?

Well what we do is have the sponsor buy the show. How it works is that they can put the show in their advertising. We do a lot of car shows. They plug the shows on their radio ads etc. You know a lot of our shows are attended by people who probably couldn't pay $10 per person to bring their families. Sounds like bs but it is the truth, there are a lot of people out there struggling right now. Our sponsor gets a lot of goodwill out of it. It comes back to them tenfold.

That was my business plan to get it off the ground. If the show is bought then you don't have to worry about your financials as the money is there already. It is a great thing for a promotion as it removes the risk. Unfortunately it is hard to sell shows to sponsors who will buy them. I have a lot of friends that are promoting all over the US and Canada and they call me and ask how I'm able to do it. They would love to do the same thing.

Right now it is hard to run shows. If you do the math you can see where the money goes. By the time you rent a building, advertise, pay the guys and either buy or rent a ring, that adds up really quick.

There is not a lot of money in the wrestling business at this level so you have to be smart about what you do. We want to survive and keep growing.

Selling used cars during a wrestling show really takes away from the actual wrestling itself, and it kind of sucks out the good atmosphere that should be felt at wrestling shows. Just a regular outdoor wrestling event already sucks the life out of the crowd for some reason. Selling cars during the show doesn't really help the situation. Plus, it's pretty hillarious when your wrestlers are coming to and from the ring and almost get hit by a potential car buyer taking out a Chevy Lumina for a test drive.

And kids in the crowd should not be groping the valets.

I remember Darnell stole a key from some van in the lot at that show. He was then running from the security and was still able to use profanity towards Justin Crast. What a rascal that Darnell was.

Yeah, I agree the feeling of the show is different than those of a packed building. But would you rather have no show? I also think that we have had some great matches at our shows. Have they all been great? No. Do the guys work hard and try to improve? Yeah.

In the future, our plans are to go indoors. I'm currently looking for a venue that I think will be right for what I want to do.

Again, the big thing with us is to go one step at a time. I don't want to be a promotion that opens up one year and closes the next. Remember guys, I've been doing this a long time and I've seen a lot of promotions fold over stupid basic mistakes. I don't want that to happen.

We welcome you all out to our shows and hope you enjoy yourselves. I'm always available to talk to and hopefully you will say hello. You comments and input mean a lot to me and the crew.

Two simple rules. . .1-Don't grab the valet's asses and 2. Try not to get hit by somebody going for a test drive. Lol, let's remember, at the end of the day all we are trying to do is entertain you. . .

Indoors or outdoors, a wrestling show in the presence of used cars is rather unorthodox and just plain weird. Sure, it's "unique", but do you really want to be known for that uniqueness?

Lol, I'm not looking to be unique in that sense, that is for sure. I also don't want to be known for lighting people on fire or wrestling bears. But I do want people to be entertained. We have actually had a lot of positive feedback from people about our shows. I'm hoping that those people will follow us indoors when we go. But even when that happens I'll still continue to do the car shows when I can.

The thing about those shows is that they not only provide entertainment at the auto shows but it also provides work for the guys and gives them a chance to show their stuff.

As for marketing wrestling, the biggest thing about the industry today is that it is changing. We think outside the box here and if we don't we wouldn't be doing any shows at all. This isn't 1985 anymore where you get your territory and go. Today you have to carve out your own niche. We use our company a lot in the way of marketing. Our clients are extremely happy with it. And it gives us lots of exposure. We have to keep thinking in a progressive manor in order to move ahead. And maybe our product isn't for the smart marks? Maybe we are for the locals who want to come out and be entertained? Maybe we are serving our client's needs of entertaining people while they are at their auto shows?

I'll give you a great example. Last weekend we had a show in Brawley, CA. It was like 110 degrees outside. I had a meeting with the crew and told them that I just wanted them to work hard and entertain. Well I go out and watch the first match with the guys from Arizona and it blew me away. These guys flew everywhere. I mean they were doing awesome dives and landing on the cement. There was no need for that but they just wanted to work hard and impress. Was it a **** match? No, but they are green and just gave me 110 percent.

I watched the fans around the ring and they couldn't have cared less if they were in the parking lot or a hot building. They were totally into it.

I look at it like this, it is just like TV, if you aren't comfortable watching it, don't watch. If I don't like a show I change the channel.

With that said, we hope that people like to come out and leave happy. We will continue to work hard to make them happy.

We have never pretended to be the WWE or EMLL. We are what we are. Some days are better than others but you will get an honest effort. Like I said, Rome wasn't built in a day, or on a car lot, lol. . .dan

lol was the statement about lighting ppl on fire and wrestling bears a punch at acw? lol also i would mind seein a show were they are selling you cars cuz i need a car so i can kill two birds with one stone. lets just make sure we keep the bull shit to the car salesmen and out of the ring.

Lol, no that wasn't a swipe at any other promotions. I have to admit that since I started mine here in Cali everybody has been really great with me.

I only mentioned those things because they were on the top of my head. There used to be a guy in Canada who had a wrestling bear back in the 80s. My buddies all worked with the bear and they hated it lol. As for the fire I actually saw the ECW spot where they used to light the two tables and personally thought it was awesome when they did it.

What I was referring to was that I want to stick to more of a wrestling show. With that said I'll probably have full blown circuses within the year, lol.

Yeah guys I'm pretty honest. I'm also really available so if you want to discuss something just let me know. I don't always have all the right answers but I'll work on getting them if I don't.

And by the way, I do try to keep the salesmen out of the ring, lol.
