AWS mini review
It was great weather for an outdoor show. A warm sunny day with a nice breeze all day. About 80 to 90 fans in attendence. The show started about 1pm.
Black Metal/Guerra de Sangre Not great, but at least it was kept short. 1/2 * Markus riot/Boom Boom Murillo(aka Biggie Biggs) Premise here is that Riot is trying to earn a shot against Alkatraz. Vanderpyle tells Riot if he can beat Boom Boom he will get his shot. Most of the match saw Boom Boom on offense beating down the much smaller Riot. Markus pulls out the win after reversing a samoan drop into a crucifix for the pin. Post match Vanderpyle tells Riot he gets his shot next show and then precedes to beat Riot down with the help of Boom Boom. This was a really solid match with both guys working hard and a nice finish. **3/4 Disco Machine/Lil Cholo This was a great match between two of so cals most underrated veterans. This match had great flow the entire match. Both guys were busting their asses here. Finish saw Disco get the pinfall by holding the ropes. This sets up the rematch for the next show. This is the best work I have seen from either guy in a while. Really top notch stuff here. ***1/4 Pheonix Star/Steve Pain Fans solidly behind Pheonix star in the this one. Pain spent the entire match tring to prove something to the fans who jeered him. This was a good thing because he really worked hard in this one and put on one hell of a good match. Tons of highspots with both guys shinning at times. **3/4 Machine Gun/Sonny Sampson I can't say enough good things about this match. To say this was entertaining as hell is the under statement of the century. So cals two best comedy workers collided in what was one of the most entertaining matches I have ever witnessed. Both of these guys really know how to work and entertain a crowd from start to finish. So much comedy goodness. Machine Gun gets the win by pinfall. ***3/4 As much fun as I have had since Ebbessan/Kamen at PWG's 88 miles per hour. I demand a rematch! Young Bucks/Chivos/Team Aussie/Bump n Grind This was another excellent match. Aussie team got tons of heel heat. Most of match saw BnG,Chivo, and YB's in the ring with Team Aussie playing the "hit and run" role. All 4 teams did great work in this one. Finish saw Young Bucks Getting the win after Chino accidently dropkicked Bo to cost them the match and the titles. Post match saw Bo tease a break up but soon made up with Chino. Damnit! Maybe soon. (crosses fingers)Young Bucks are your new AWS tag team champions. ***1/4 Marshall & Goodman/Tornado & Williams Marshall played the race card and fired up the crowd getting tons off crowd heat. This was a good match that saw a wild finish and Goodman/Marshall winning by DQ. Post Match Team Aussie ran in and beatdown Tornado until Williams made the save. Team Aussie might make a good heel faction if done right IMO. They had as much heat as anyone all day. Finish to show saw Goodman,Marshall and Team Aussie with hands raised in unity as they return to the back. Great heat to finish the show as usual. **3/4 With the exception of the opener everything on the show was above average to great. Best AWS show this year without question. Buy this show on dvd when it comes out! |
