FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THE XWF PRESENTS "THE WEST TEXAS SHOOTOUT"- ANNOUNCES ARENA EVENTS IN TEXAS AND NEW MEXICO
KONAN & REY MYSTERIO, JR. RE-UNITE AS THE FILTHY ANIMALS, TERRY FUNK RETURNS TO THE RING TO FACE "THE HAMMER"
TAMPA, Jan. 30, 2002 — Hot on the heels of our successful showing at the annual NATPE Convention at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Jan. 21-24, 2002, the XWF is proud to announce the resumption of its arena show schedule with three exciting date in Texas and New Mexico between February 22-24, 2002.
The XWF — where today’s top wrestling superstars meet the hottest up and coming talent of the future — will be serving up its unique brand of sports and entertainment in Amarillo, TX, Lubbock, TX and Hobbs, NM. With 10 hours of brand new programming having just been produced at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL, the XWF is ready to take off.
These shows will showcase some of the finest talent the XWF has to offer and will be headlined by a triple main event: The Filthy Animals: Konan & Rey Mysterio, Jr. reunite to challenge one of the dirtiest tag teams in history, The Nasty Boys; Hardcore legend and Texas' favorite son Terry Funk will battle fellow second-generation legend Greg "The Hammer" Valentine; and International Superstar Vampiro will face the daunting challenge of Jimmy Hart's latest monster, the 6'9" Hail.
In addition, the XWF will announce additional matches featuring Norman Smiley, Simon Diamond w/ Dawn Marie, The British Storm, Kid Kash, Josh Mathews from MTV's Tough Enough and some special guests.
“The XWF Wrestling Federation is bringing pro wrestling back to the fans,” stated John Flood, XWF president. "We’re going back to tradition with a contemporary twist — and very much IN YOUR FACE!”
The XWF’s Website — [URL=www.xwfwrestling.com]http://www.xwfwrestling.com — is up and running and a full series of arena shows are planned for the U.S. throughout 2002.
Bob Ryder report The shows are expected to feature the following matches: Konnan & Rey Mysterio Jr vs The Nasty Boys; Terry Funk vs Greg Valentine; and Vampiro vs Hail. Other matches will involve Norman Smiley, Simon Diamond (with Dawn Marie), British Storm, Kid Kash, Josh Matthews and some special guests.
I re-checked to read xwf press release that Vampiro stay with XWF on 2/22-2/23-2/24 and won't be return to 2/23XPW to fight rob Black for ownership match. I think match may be subject to change. It blow to XPW and XPW fans.

PWF has Ballards vs. Maximos
Hmmmmmm, interesting matchup. I look more forward to this one than the Ballards vs. Backseats
Samoa Joe vs. Billy Bax should be good, but what I would like to see, since we're talking about east coast vs. west coast, is Samoa Joe vs. Homicide or any guy from the Hit Squad. If that match goes down, the stiffness would be off the charts.
(Is Homicide in the Hit Squad?)
I BELIEVE Da Hit Squad is Monsta Mack & Mafia Mack.

Yea Rev, I knew that, I was wondering if Homicide is in Da Hit Squad. As a third member.
I found out that he's in sometimes and out sometimes.
Homicide vs. Samoa Joe would be hot.
I'm still begging someone to book the Battle of the Dragons:
American vs. Super
And what I meant was that I believed it was just Monsta & Mafia.
DHS -v- The Ballards or Los Cubanitos would be tight too.

Mark Fugenari's Great Plain Wrestling Hotline report Vampiro and Konan signed with XWF for one-year deal. There is chaos in XPW office but XPW reps start search for new wrestlers to replace Vampiro. No news on Evan Karagias and Juvi. Konan is done with XPW due to money issue.

WWA confirmed that it will have its PPV on 2/24 at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas with Randy Savage, Scott Steiner and Kronik already announced. Look for Sabu vs. Crowbar and Christopher Daniels to also be on the show. There will also be a fan convention on 2/23. For discount hotel rates and travel info check out 1wrestling.com. However, Dave Meltzer is reporting that the Aladdin has no info about a wrestling show and that WWA doesn't even have a liscense to promote in Nevada.

Umm Scrub, you obviously haven't seen Billy Bax :-) He is god awful. Hopefully Joe can carry him.
As for the Homicide-DHS matter.. Homicide was in DHS with Mafia and Monsta Mack. When Dixie turned on Insane Dragon, and helped DHS win the tag belts, DHS made him an honorary member. Homicide got pissed and they split.
I can't remember the last Dixie match I sent ya Scrub, but you should see him now.. he's turned into a hell of a worker.

I agree WesWes, Dixie is king:
Oh I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old things they are not forgotten
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland
Oh I wish I was in Dixie, away, away
In Dixieland I take my stand to live and die in Dixie
Cause Dixieland, that's where I was born
Early Lord one frosty morning
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland

I guess I was thinking of Billy Reil. I saw maybe a couple of his matches, and they were alright. Maybe Reil sucks now, who knows. Billy Reil, Billy Bax, Billy Buddges, they're all the same to me.

SAMOA JOE OF UPW TO APPEAR ON PCW SHOW
BIG NEWS AND NEW MATCHES ADDED FOR FEB 22 IN TOMS RIVER!
Earlier this week negotiations were completed to bring in UPW standout Samoa Joe to compete in PCW on Feb 22 in Toms River at the Recreation Station. Joe follows in the footsteps of The Ballard Bros, Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarain and Nova in coming over from UPW to work together in PCW. The addition of Samoa Joe indeed continues to solidify PCW's claim of being the number one company not only in New Jersey but perhaps the country. "I think its terrific that were able to gather the top talent from all over the country and showcase them in this manner" promoter Donnie B had to say. "This roster is indeed special, with people like the Ballards, Evolution, Red, Ric Blade, Harley Lewis, Backseat Boys, Chi Chi Cruz, Chris Hammrick, Chris Daniels I don't think there's another roster like it. I think were growing every day and look forward to some of our talent going to California and continuing working with Bassmans' UPW"
Samoa Joe is set to do battle on Feb 22 at the homebase of Firebird TV, the Recreation Station, and joins an already stacked card! Call 1 732 270 1678 for ticket info and reservations.

UWF in Las Vegas last night for a show that included more than 80 past and present wrestlers watching in attendance because of the Cauliflower Alley Club banquet:
Fredo b Jesus
Legacy b Brother William
Butcher & Big 2Fuji b Sinful & Jason Riggs, Brady
Desire b Candyman
Solo b Damien Dollaz
Rush b Johnny Rage
Spanky b American Dragon Great match not best!
Thanks to my friend, Mark, who attend UWF.
Spanky told my friend he will fly to New Jersey on 2/21 morning and has booking for east coast indy on 2/22 then drive to Philly for 2/23 Ring of Honor.
Received a call from Las Vegas last night from both John and Bob.
They are there for the CAC Banquet.
John was telling me about a 5 star match he saw between Spanky and American Dragon at the Las Vegas Wrestling Academy. He is going to try to bring the match here to New York in the near future. John said Shawn Michaels should be extremely proud of his students, as their match was AWESOME.
It's a shame they only performed before approximately 35 fans.
American Dragon won the match.
Today Bob was telling me about all the wrestlers that were at the Hotel already for the Banquet.
Here is the VERY impressive list:
Pat Patterson, Jimmy Snuka, Red Bastien, Ted Lewin, Steve Strong, Killer Tim Brooks, Stu Hart, Bruce Hart, Ross Hart, Nick Ackerman, Crazy Luke Graham, Jr, Cousin Luke, Chris Markoff, Angelo and Mario Savoldi, Ox Baker, B. Brian Blair, Larry Sharpe, Larry Hennig, Harley Race, Danny Hodge, Les Thatcher, Nick Bockwinkle, Fabulous Moolah, Mae Young, Irish Pat Barrett, The Destroyer, Mike Tenay, Butcher Vahon, Lou Thesz, Killer Kowalski and Jimmy Valiant (who I had the pleasure of speaking to on the phone) Jimmy informed me that he is also writing a book, he has about 200 pages done, and he plans on possibly putting it out next year.
Chris Benoit is expected to be there today.
Irish Pat Barrett received the Potato Golden Award
And Angelo Savoldi received the Golden Crowbar Award (For the stiffest matches)
I'm sure I forgot some names.
I know that Promoter Bob Creely is there, Diane Devine was attending, George Napolitano, and so many others. I was informed this Banquet is a TOTAL SELL OUT !!! More of a report soon.

Combat Zone Wrestling returned to the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, PA last night for their third appearance in the venue. I've heard the crowd was in the area of 800-900 fans, which is up several hundred from their second show and a positive sign. They were able to bring in some of the crazier elements of the company on this show, so tracking how the crowd size fluctuates once the more hardcore aspects of CZW air on television will be interesting.
The show was headlined by Lobo defeating John Zandig in a bloody match to win ownership of the promotion. The match saw them use barbed wire (wrapped around the ropes and on tables) and a "Pyramid of Death" which was several stacked tables set ablaze. Boy, those folks who said the Athletic Commission would never let CZW do their off the wall hardcore stuff sure were right, eh?
Lobo put up his career in the match, which was actually his first wrestling match since the promotion's initial television taping several months back when he injured his knee. Former ECW "Extreme Official" H.C. Loc was involved in the finish as a heel referee. This will lead to both men laying claim to ownership of the promotion at the next show.
CZW champion Justice Pain dropped a bout to old rival Nick Gage by DQ in their first meeting in a long time, which was set up by the angle at the previous show where Gage laid out Pain after he had defeated the Messiah. The DQ was caused by Pain's "new partner" who was unnamed (and I don't know who he is yet). The "new partner" will be teaming with Pain at the next show against Gage and Nate Hatred.
The Messiah from California was brought into the show and defeated Nick Mondo in a match which saw them use thumbtacks. Adam Flash interfered to set up the finish. Messiah was apparently busted open hardway from a trash can. I heard a lot of praise about this match. Apparently Messiah is really over, with one person comparing his popularity thus far in his appearances to Ruckus, who is one of the promotion's top babyfaces. That's quite a compliment.
The Ballard Brothers from California indy fame also, challenging CZW Tag Team champions The Backseat Boys. Since Eddie Valentine was in Japan and couldn't compete against the Backseats, the storyline was manager Mack Smack went and got the best team from the West Coast to challenge them. The Ballards actually wont the belts but Rockin' Rebel came out and said they weren't cleared to compete by the Commission, so the match continued with the champions retaining the belts. They did a similar finish the month before with Trent Acid's Big Japan/CZW Junior Heavyweight championship against Ruckus. I wouldn't do that finish much more than they have at this point. Eddie Valentine and John Dahmer will get their title shot at the return event on 3/9.
Other results from the show saw Chris Cash defeat GQ....Quiet Storm fought Nick Berk to a draw...The Midnight Outlaws (Marc and Jay Briscoe under masks) defeated Chris Stylez and Ian Knoxx....The Rachies defeated Greg Matthews (of Tough Enough fame) and Ruckus
CZW returns to the Arena on 3/9 with Justice Pain and his unnamed partner vs. Nick Gage and Nate Hatred, The Messiah vs. Adam Flash, CZW Tag Team champions the Backseat Boyz vs. Eddie Valentine and John Dahmer, and the Overboyz (Samir and Joey Corman from Texas) will return.
Notes: Nate Hatred, Eddie Valentine, and Z-Barr all missed the show as they were in Japan touring for Big Japan. I've spoken to Barr while he was in Japan and he absolutely loves Japan and will be writing a "Diary" of his experiences...The Ballard Brothers are back on the Northeast the weekend of the 2/22-2/24 as they are working for Phoenix Wrestling and the PWF, among others....Wifebeater didn't work the show, due to the back injury he suffered in December. He will be undergoing physical therapy and isn't expected back in the ring until May....The SATs were not booked for this show, as they had a previous commitment in Ohio.....As I noted here a few columns back, don't expect to see the Tod Gordon angle continue. You can find my thoughts on that in the archives below...RFVideo.com taped the show and it can be ordered from their site....Expect a weekly report of CZW's "Fake You TV" to begin running on the Newsline and this column shortly.

My friends, from Philly, Reading and South Philly, send this one...
The main event with Zandig vs. Lobo was sick. The Messiah vs. Nick Mondo and Justice Pain vs. Nick Gage were also really good.
CZW results from last night at the ECW Arena saw: Chris Ca$h beat GQ by countout, Quiet Storm battled Nick Berk to a draw, Midnight Outlaws (Briscoe Brothers) defeated Chris Stylez & Ian Knoxx, Rachies beat Greg Matthews & Ruckus, The Messiah beat Mick Mondo, Backseat Boys defeated The Ballard Brothers to retain the CZW Tag Titles, Justice Pain defeated Nick Gage to retain the CZW Title, Lobo defeated Zandig in the Pyramid of Hell match to win ownership of CZW. They took up the ring mat at wrestled on wooden boards. The ropes were wrapped in barbed wire. They had tables wrapped in barbed wire, light tubes, and Zandig powerbombed Lobo through 6 tables which were lit on fire.
CZW returns to the ECW Arena on 3/9 with Justice Pain and his new partner vs. Nick Gage & Nate Hatred, VD vs Backseat Boys, and Adam Flash vs The Messiah.
Ask The Messiah about XPW. He said XPW is F*ck lo$er!
Thanks my friends for email.
