Since it seems the results are on this site elsewhere I will just give my thoughts. The show was decent. The crowd was not very large. I'm not sure how many. Less than 100. I wont go to the next show since there was a three way that was all backyarders in it. And Crayz will be in the main event on the next show. I gave them a chance but any promotion who books guys like Blade and uses backyard wrestlers on the show has blown there chance with me. The rest of the show was decent. B-Boy and Frankie's match was the best.

Pretty good show. They could have definitly cut out the tag team match and the GOD AWFUL triple threat match and then we could have seen Hardkore Kidd vs. Messiah when it was still light outside. Of course, starting on time would've helped too, but since NOBODY ever starts their shows on time, I won't hold it against them.

Best matches were Frankie Kazarian vs. B-Boy, Pinoy Boy vs. Joey Ryan, and Scott Lost vs. Lil' Cholo.

"....you FOOL all 3 of those workers were trained By VERN langdon ,Carlito Montoya & SUPREME.This took place at the infamous SLAMMERS......"

Not too start crap , but Vern Langdon never wrestled 1 match in his life. He was just a mark with $ that worked a bunch of folkes into thinking he was an "old timer"....thats all I want to say about that statement. As far as I know Supreme wasnt at Slammers and was " trained" by Crayz

Verne ran the school over at Slammers. In reality, Carlito Montana (El Toro Bravo) ran the school and did the training during the time that those 3 trained. If you want to take a shot at Slammers, then you need to take a shot at workers like Johnny Webb, Dynamite D, Damian Steele, Uncle Jess, Carlito Montana, Messiah, Homeless Jimmy and all the other guys that came outta Slammers. Thats like taking shots at UPW. Bassman may run the school but he has trainers that do the work. Its the same scenario.

CALIFORNIA OBSERVER

point taken and understood. I dont really think its the same scenario .
I never " took a shot " at Slammers moreso at the comment
"....you FOOL all 3 of those workers were trained By VERN langdon ,Carlito Montoya & SUPREME."
Actually the workers YOU mentioned hung in there and have made an impact on our scene and from knowing El Toro Bravo , he will be one of the first to tell ya Vern didnt know shizit about wrestling....maybe about feet but thats another subject....sorry that was bad...eeewwww

So they are guys who were trained how long ago and have not wrestled in how long? The match still sucked. Also as CO said Vern is not a trainer. Also Supreme sucks. So did Carlito. And so did that match. Also Blade was in a match. Who trained him? I guess the way to be a professional promoter is to come on message boards and insult people and show a total lack of grammar. How about a couple more questions. What makes an XPW security guard think they can run a show? Just another Marketplace fed that is throwing money away. Also did you count wrestlers in your total of 106? There was not 106 there. Are those 3 your friends and that is why they were booked at all? They sucked. That match sucked. And using them and Blade and message board attacks like yours makes GSCW lose all credibility.

Is Slammers even still around? Some people say yes while others say they closed in 1997. Also what is up with Verne Langdon charging $9.50 for info on joining his school? It's almost as bad as Rick Bassman charging you $20 to go to a orientation for checking out Ultimate University!

I don't think there was over 100 people there, but I could be wrong. Props to you guys for bringing in the Messiah on the first show. The show started way too late and the guy at the door was a prick. Not a good first start in my opinion. The dual main event was great on paper, but not so hot when there was no time to show it due to the sun going down. It was way too dark for the main event and you guys had to totally scrap crowning a cruiserweight champion, which was advertised. Some of the matches were complete wastes of time. The triple threat was totally lame and the guy that came out at the end should go back to school. Scott whatever his name was in the tourny was good and so were the two Asian guys. The refs seemed VERY unprofessional, especially the guy who wished he was in Three Count. I saw a few XPW regulars at the show, probably to see Messiah wrestle. It was good to see him in So Cal again, just not in this setting. Start the show on time and cut the fat off the product.

Ok, here is my review of the show:
-Everyone in the tournament did good
-The Tag Team Match go the crowd going BIG TIME, that Canada gimick REALLY got over.
-Both Main Events were great, except the Messiah/Hardkore Kid was a little short because of the sun going down
-The crowd didnt really get into it at first, but after the Tag Match, and a Dropkick by Pinoy Boy (pop of the night), they started getting into it.
-If they didnt have the 3-way go so long, or have the Tourny Finals instead of it, and they started on time, the show would of been pretty good for a first show.

was the show really that bad ?? i mean it was the first show !
anyway lets go over a few things ..shall we.

As far as I know Supreme wasnt at Slammers and was " trained" by Crayz

A. ya its true i broke him ,kid kaos, tech 9 and ryan mcbain in .
started them out

I wont go to the next show since there was a three way that was all backyarders in it. And Crayz will be in the main event on the next show.

A. if you wont go to the show because im in the main event you must not be much of a wrestling fan. dont you think the messiah and frankie can carry me to a good match ? i had titles put on me when they were both in grade school so give me a little credit . LOL .. and in the last year i worker terry funkand abby the butcher so if im that bad stay at home ..

What makes an XPW security guard think they can run a show?

A. what makes a porn guy whos a mark run shows ? or indy wrestlers run shows ? or movie director? theres fans they like or love wrestling . or think they can make money .. thats all at least there running and give the boys a place to work .

for a first show i would say it wasnt that bad .. i have seen alot worse in 7 years .

Steve

I didn't see the show so I won't comment on the show itself. Just a few points from posts on here.

I am glad the Crayz / Messiah feud is continuing somewhere. MPW started this feud and then seemingly just dropped it. If a feud is started in any promotion, good or bad, the promotion should at least try to end it. Just my opinion.

As far as the promoter being a security guard, at least he has done something in wrestling. There are some (wannabe) promoters who have do nothing in wrestling, and are trying to run shows (The lack of sucess those shows are having should be evidence of the importance of being involved in some way before diving into being a promoter). So you can't really hold that against him.

I hadn't really heard of the three guys in the three way either, but I asked someone about them and they told me they were trained at Slammers. The reasoning they told me about them not working in all this time is a little shady but it could be true.

I think on a debut show a clean finish should have been done in the main event. Crayz coming out post match would have been as effective and gave your main event a clean finish.

I have nothing personal against Blade, but booking him seems to be a touch of poison. It is going to be very hard for him to get over his rep and everytime he shows up on a card someone throws out "backyard".

I had other plans Saturday but if I wouldn't have had if the card for the next show is good, I'll be there. Hopefully all the bugs will be worked out.

I thought the show was good. all the matches on the card were entertaining except for the triple threat match. I think they could have used some better planning though. If you start your show at 3pm in the winter, they should of at least had some flood lights there just to be safe.
I'll give them some slack though, because it was their first show. They had a better turnout then i thought they would have, and overall, i thought it was a pretty good show.

Now I could be off base here, but MPW has not necessarily dropped the fued. They were not able to continue it on the last show because Messiah was working for CZW.

I agree with you on finishing the fued. I think that someone needs to let it run and hopefully MPW will do just that.

i want to start by saying this was a good attempt at a first show. the things that went wrong can definately be fixed without compromising the action.
heres the things i thought were wrong:
1. the show needed to start on time.
if it started when it was suppose to we wouldn't have had to see the main event in the dark.
2. too many matches with the same people.
i think they need to be more sellective about who works a match. the tournament had the same wrestlers you can see every weekend at wpw. the tournament didn't mean that much to me.
3. mix the card up a bit.
with that many cruiser matches in a row it starts to get boring. seeing the same type of match one right after another makes it harder for the wrestlers to keep the fans attention. the same moves are done in each match making it more difficult to get the "pop."
4. the matches were too long.
when you're trying to fit all those matches on the card you need to give the wrestlers a time frame to work within. there's no reason why the tag match or three way should go longer then the main event.
5. get real refferees.
hassan is an average ref but the other clown didn't know the first thing about reffing. first he came out with silly rubber bands in his hair. i think the first thing they should teach in ref school is not to take away heat from the wrestlers. there is no reason a ref should try and get heat from the crowd when he's calling a match.

there were other things i didnt care for but thats personal prefrence so it really doesn't count.

i liked the main event dispite it being in the dark. hardkore came out and cut his usual promo talking shit on the crowd. then he shit about xpw, how he kicked sabu's ass and now it was time to kick the messiah's ass. the best part of his promo was when he said, "if that fat talestless piece of shit, who couldn't cut a promo if i wrote it for him, pogo the clown was here, i'd kick his ass to". he did his catch phrases and went to the ring. when the messiah came out the crowd was fully behind him. i wasn't sure about this match because they've never worked together but they pulled it off.

the b-boy/frankie match was good. the only thing i didn't like about it was they used too many finishers. i think if a finisher is used it should end of the match. other then that the match was fast with all of thier signature moves being used. the best part of the match was seeing b-boy getting the win. he deserves it.

the cruiser tournament was average. i would have liked to see lil cholo go to the finals. i think my problem with cruisers are once you've seen reckless youth, fallen angel, mike modest or trent acid wrestle you're ruined. its wierd seeing guys go through the motions but when its not as crisp as the veterans it doesn't keep my attention. also the fact i think someone is going to get hurt makes it that much harder to watch.

the tag team match wasn't good. i didn't care for it at all. basically it was filler that didn't need to be there.

the 3-way was horrible. an unnessicary brawl to cover up for the lack of experience. another filler match that didn't need to be there.

as far as attendance goes, they drew a nice crowd. i'd say there was at least 100 not counting wrestlers. the way i see it, it's as many people as i've seen at the last 3 rev pro shows i've been to, combined.

i'm looking forward to the next show if they have one. i'll definately be there.

on a side note, when i saw crayz i knew something was up. why would he be there? it was good to see him get into the action. the best thing about his appearance was they set up an angle for the next show.

should be interesting if it happens.

GSCW will be running their next show March 9th at a venue to be announced, but it will most likely be in the San Fernando Valley. The main event will be Messiah & Frankie Kazarian vs. Crayz & Hardkore Kidd. They will also have the finals of their cruiserweight tournament.

GSCW should take place at Birmingham High in Van Nuys (2,000 capacity) or Marriott hotel in Woodland Hills (600 capacity).

So, you guys are running a TV show in LA on Adelphia? Are you going to be on Adelphia in Anaheim? The city you taped in? After waiting forever to get in, and sitting through a main event in the dark, it would be cool to see it on tv, as if I could tape the show, it would be worth what I paid to get in. I still stick by the theory that Hardkore Kidd looks 100% better when he wrestles with the aid of either lights or the sun.

Here's a great idea I'm gonna kick down to the GSWA for free: Put on the Hardkore Kidd while the sun is out, then put on the jobbers from the xpw school, blade, and scorpion sky andrews after the sun sets. I believe you will please the fans that way.

But what the hell do I know, I'm just a mark.
