I've been sleeping on it since when did it become legal and anyone knows who plans to come and where? Also, where would the best venue in L.A. be?

It became legal last month. A unnamed Japanese money corp got the legislation past by the CA atheltic commision. What the rules are exactly I dont remmeber (like if it has to be in a acage or ring...im sure though it will be UFC style rules so no soccer kicks, stomps or such). As for who is coming...well the unnamed Japanese org is trying to start up a new company, I know PRIDE has been working a long time to move to the states but have had no luck...but they have yet to make any move on the cali scene that I know of. I dont know if UFC will want to try to expand to LA (its the logical choice but again no word from them on what they are going to do). The unnamed org. stated they wanted to look at Staples and Dodger stadium as venues for their fights...both of which could work very well (being ata absebal staidum is taking it old school when Inoki was touring the states doing his "wrestling vs any other type of fighting" matches). only down side of Staples would be of course the price, and downside of Dodger stadium will be when baseball stadium kicks in, limiting shows.

MMA wouldn't draw more than 5000 fans tops at Dodger Stadium.

What's this "unnamed Japanese money corp" business? UFC has been front and center in the entire legislation process. John McCarthy has been in every session and California has basically adopted UFC's rules (except rings will be allowed). UFC purposely stayed very closely involved and actively argued against allowing Pride-style rules, disengeniously stating that Pride rules result in higher injuries and that Pride rules appear too barbaric. UFC basically succeeded in making sure Pride doesn't come to CA any time soon since PRide is unwilling to sacrifice it's rule set.

Read itin total MMA report... there was no talk about UFC anywhere near it.

McCarthy is a fucking faggot and a "company" man. I remember him testifying about how much more dangerous Pride-style rules would be and the "dangers" of fighters falling out of a ring. As a result, CA adopted gay UFC rules.
I was talking with my Price sources, and from what they told me, Pride was willing to accept UFC's gay rules, but they refused to hold their fights in a cage, so I doubt they will ever run here.
UFC won't run here either, especially with this "investigation" by the California Athletic Commission looking into the effects of weight cutting on fighters, LOL. I'm pretty sure dehyrdating your body to lose 40 pounds in a week is a lot more dangerous than kicks to the head or falling out of a ring.

Justin Crast and Steve72 are both very correct on the UFC's close involvement with the CAC on getting their rules adopted for MMA in California.
#1Jobber, I would look into a new source for MMA news, IMO. I imagine even Insideasskissing.com or Sherslob's site has better news than this "total mma" garbage.

New Observer says that the state will start taking applications for licenses on 1/9 and start approving them on 1/16. So we are looking at February or March before we really start seeing any sanctioned shows anyway. There's apparently a show planned at the Galaxy on 3/11, and the Observer says there's plans for a big show in San Diego as well.

I wonder if Valor will keep running their illegal shows or play ball with the CAC.

I imagine King of the Cage will be one who will start running shows at other venues in southern California instead of just the Indian casinos they always have.
Total-mma is a legit news source. There probably is a Japanese promotion / company looking at southern California. I think Pride may be still wondering if they are over enough with the American fans to run a big show over here. Dodger Stadium would be one place I wouldn't run, no matter who was doing the show. I think the UFC would be the only promotion over enough to even try and run a show at the Staples Center.

Total-MMA is legit, although I hadn't recalled reading that piece of news information about a Japanese company. It wouldn't surprise me if it was Inoki and was actually Jungle Fight, since Inoki and his partners there are always talking about US expansion.
But UFC was very, very involved in the entire licensing process in CA. They did their best to keep Pride out of the process. I recall reading a story of how Pride pulled out a bunch of statistics to disprove the notion that their rules are less safe than UFCs but since they weren't as bombastic or charismatic as the UFC reps, the CA commission just hushed them up and ignored the stats.
