Ah, it's been too long since we've heard his enchanting mix of self-loathing, self-pity and bragging. I love that the repeated apologies are alternated with quotes from workers about what a great idea EPIC was and how swell a cat the Yapper is...

Anyway, this doesn't make me any more optimistic about WAR's business plan, but it is a cool thing for the fans -- a truly nice gesture. The announced lineup:

Super Dragon vs. Jack Evans

Austin Aries vs. Joey Ryan

Backseat Boyz vs. Disco Machine/Excalibur

Scorpio Sky vs. Tony Kozina

Charles Mercury vs. Ronin vs. Quicksilver

Plus, as you might expect, "more."

I'm not rooting against WAR. They seem committed to putting on interesting shows, and if nothing else, they'll provide more paydays for our local guys. But man, between GY's presence, the booking of the Backseats (I mean were we REALLY begging to get them back?) and now this well-intentioned but confusing willingness to lose money, it's starting to feel a lot like EPIC 2. Maybe it won't end up that way -- maybe these guys have a solid plan. But something about this Yap rant makes me feel like we're in for another pretty wacky ride.

Gary Yap is an adviser to some guys who have NEVER been involved in the wrestling biz? PS - If you're an official spokesperson of a company usually personal attacks and calling fans gay isn't a really good idea to create a fanbase. Who's going to this? I know tons of people are on the fence about this show, due to their sentiments towards Gary Yap and Glen the Juggalo Outkast, but it's a free show with flown in talent mixed with top notch SoCal talent in the ever-so-lovable Elks Lodge. It was arguably SoCal's favorite venue.

I really don't know what to expect from WAR, but I wanna see who's gonna take a shot and check out this show.

Dragon's on the card, it's a free show, those seats in the Elks lodge are extremely comfortable, and to top it all off... The lineup's just too damn good to not take a chance. And I'm curious about this Jack Evans fellow.

And hell, all else fails, Disco will be there to entertain with dance moves.

Now this is a topic actually worth dicussing. I am looking forward to seeing what WAR has to offer. I'm all for a new fed that is not only offering a free show but some really great talent. Unlike some other new feds as of late WAR is at least acting professional in how they have handled the show and its advertising. The venue is one of my favorites as well. I am giving Gary Yap the benefit of the doubt right now because of the free show. It seems like the guy is trying to make some amends to the so cal fans. For the most part Epic put on some really good shows and I'm hoping for more of the same from War.Minus the last show debacle of course.

Well, first of all... I love the venue. Those ELKS LODGE CHAIRS FREAKING RULE! Best seat in wrestling ever.

Second: The card looks excellent.

SD Vs. Evans could be an amazing ass kicking. Evans is a really fun wrestler to watch and can take a beating real well, and Super Dragon... umm nuff said.

Joey Ryan Vs. Austin Aries (who is a big draw, because it doesn't look like he's at PWG the next day) could potentially be amazing. From what I've seen Aries is the real deal (some are calling him the 2004 Indy Wrestler of the Year) and course so is Joey is the real deal too and a top notch talent himself. Should be a hell of a match.. potential match of the year if they go all out...

BSB Vs. Excalibur/Disco should be fun, The Backseatz aren't what they used to be... but I'm sure the super talented Disco Machine and Excalibur will make it worthwhile.

Sky Vs. Kozina and The 3-way should be solid, and I forgot if anything else was announced.

3rd, It's free! My favorite price (well aside from them paying you to attend...)

I just hope they don't screw this up. The whole overtone of the event kinda turns me off (They'll be there smoking weed? WTF?) but I will give them a chance. And of course, you only get one chance to make a first impression... the spotlight is on you, WAR... don't blow it.
