NWA Florida returned to the Brandon All-Stars facility on May 15, 2004 to present the “Highway To Hell” event. For the fans that did not attend you missed an excellent show which will be recapped here. For fans that did attend get the word out to your friends on what they missed.

(1) Hack “Dog” Myers defeated Shane McLane
McLane seemed to be thrown off by the unorthodox ring style and appearance of Myers. Myers drew blood with vicious chops to McLane’s chest and had total control until he missed a corner splash. McLane went to the top rope but he missed a leg drop. As McLane lay on the mat in pain, Myers recovered and got the win after he hit McLane with a lariat.

(2) Naphtali defeated “Straight Up” Mikey Batts in a cruiserweight contender’s match
Naphtali tried to keep it old school but Batts took the fight the former Florida Unified Cruiserweight champion by hitting a tope’ to the floor. Back in the ring Naphtali took over by as he used rulebreaking tactics on the younger Batts. Batts hit a nice looking flying head scissor but Naphtali fired back with a martial arts kick and the infamous DVD on the 2 Disc Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup DVD (now available at www.NWAFlorida.com or www.highspots.com) after both men exchanged offensive moves. Batts came back with a power sunset flip but he was drilled with a Shining Wizard which sealed the win for Naphtali.

(3) OG Scarface (w/Ana Mosity and “Illustrious One” Shannon Rose) defeated James Hendrix (w/Hot Ass Amy Love)
This match came about after the Bra and Panties match between Rose and Amy at “Rage in the Cage VI.” OG took some time to explain to Rose that he and Ana were only with Rose at the Cage for the paycheck and they were giving Amy a freebie shot at Rose while they took care of Hendrix. Once Amy chased Rose (who screamed like a horror movie actress) to the back the in ring action began. Both men had control of the bout but Scarface had two of his finishers, Double Penetration and the Foot Fetish, blocked by Hendrix. With the crowd solidly behind him, Hendrix went to finish off Scarface with a running powerslam but Scarface slid off Hendrix’s shoulder and forced Hendrix into the corner and over the top tope onto the apron. Hendrix hit Scarface with a shoulder tackle and went for the win with a sunset flip but Scarface dropped to his knees and with some help from putting both hands on the bottom rope Scarface pinned Hendrix.

(4) Lex Lovett defeated Erick Stevens.
This was a rematch from the “Crossing the Line” event. Both men came to fight and hit each other with closed fists and stiff forearms to the face. But it settled down to a grounded submission match that Stevens controlled for several minutes. Lovett would not be defeated and fought back but missed a running knee and hit the corner turnbuckle instead of Stevens face. This allowed Stevens to attack the left knee but Lovett fought to his feet and both men began to slug it out in the middle of the ring which Lovett won after he hit a Northern Lights suplex and the Lexbuster for two counts. Stevens caught Lovett off guard and hit the Exploder followed by a Western Lariat but got a two count. Stevens hit a Wrist Clutch Exploder but Lovett recovered and after several standing counters got Stevens in what could be called a cross armbreaker chokehold which made Stevens tap out.

“The Illustrious One” Shannon Rose returned to the ring to host the Rose Effect. Tonight’s guest was the two time and current Rage in the Cage winner Bruce Steele. Steele told the fns he was upset about tonight’s title for title match and he felt he deserved the match. Steele felt that given the choice he would rather face NWA Southern Heavyweight champion “Freedom Ryder” Mike Sullivan but Steele felt he could beat any champion any time he felt like it.

(5) Luther” Bodybag” Jackson (w/Daddy Pimp) and Cuban Assassin (w/Fantasy) fought to a no contest in a taped fist match.
This re-match was demanded by Cuban after the extra curricular activities from the First Blood match at “Rage in the Cage VI.” Jackson took advantage of the scar tissue on Cuban’s forehead and busted him open after he tossed his head into the ringpost on the floor. But once back in the ring Cuban got both feet up into Jackson’s chest and blocked a corner splash. Cuban got on the offensive for several minutes but it was stopped as Pimp distracted referee Star Stevens. Jackson took out the infamous brass knuckles from his boot and he blasted Cuban in the face. Fantasy had enough and jumped into the ring to get the knuckles from Jackson but Pimp also came in and attacked Fantasy from behind. As Stevens called for the bell Pimp and Jackson decided to “Bodybag” Fantasy but Cuban saved his lady and then fought on the floor with Jackson while Pimp was low blowed by Fantasy. After the chaos settled Jackson got the mic and challenged Cuban to a first Bodybag match was accepted by Cuban and Fantasy.

Before the next match the NWA held another session of the hit show “Black Eyes for the White Guy.” Before any actions took place the NWA accosted Uncle Boberick who donned a Malcolm X photo on his shirt and some nice looking bling bling on his neck. Andres tore the photo off and Banks took the bling for himself. Scoot Andrews told the fans that the NWA Florida tag titles meant nothing and they were there to beat up two skinny white guys. Andrews then placed a $100,000 fine on the head of Mike Sullivan. But before Andrews could speak James Hendrix came out to the ring. Hendrix told the NWA he wanted to be part of the group and he’d gone shopping so he could dress like a Black man. Banks liked the outfit but told Hendrix to alter it a little and get some more practice being Black. Finally the champs hit the ring to begin….

(6) NWA Florida tag team champions Mikey Tenderfoot and Justice defeated the NWA (“Black Nature Boy” Scoot Andrews and Antonio Banks) via DQ
The opening bell saw Justice use his martial arts skills against Banks and his Mortal Kombat skills. Andrew tagged in and tried to slow the tempo down but Justice and Tenderfoot turned it up higher but Banks slowed it to a halt by sending Justice over the top rope to the hard concrete floor where Andrews tossed him into chairs and the ringpost. Back in the ring the NWA took their time destroying justice but neither man wanted the victory too early. Andrews set Justice in a waistlock for a suplex but Banks missed a superkick as Justice ducked. This allowed a tag that brought Tenderfoot in to take on both NWA members. Tenderfoot had Banks ready to be beaten but as he went to the top rope Andrews hit him in the back which made Referee Richie Rich call for the bell.

(7) NWA Florida X Division champion Sedrick Strong defeated “Rat Magnet” David Babylon
The mean streak that Strong unleashed at “Rage in the Cage VI” came out in full force as he faced the former X division champion. Babylon took the fight to the floor with a huricurana and then set up NINE folding chairs for the Babsbuster but Strong escaped and took the fight back in the ring. Once in the ring both men beat each other senseless with kicks, forearms, dropkicks and moves that I would need a wrestling dictionary to describe. Each man hit the other with a DVD but Babylon got Strong in the Billy Fives chokehold but Strong got to his feet and countered into a Northern Lights suplex. Strong took his eyes off Babylon and Babylon slapped on the Rat Trap (suspended full nelson.) Both men went to force the other into the NINE folding chairs ringside but Strong got the blow in with a shoulder tackle that took both men into the chairs. After both men recovered the action went back to the ring but in the end Strong used the top of Bablyon’s pants as help in rolling up the Rat Magnet for the win despite the boos of the fans.

(8) NWA Florida Heavyweight champion Todd Shane (w/”Hardcore Giant” Sir Ronald J. Niemi IV) and NWA Southern Heavyweight champion “Freedom Ryder” Mike Sullivan fought to a no contest.
Amazingly Niemi was not in the mood to speak to the crowd before this huge encounter. With so much hard hitting action taking place I will sum up the events. Referee Billy Dalton had his hands busy with many two counts throughout the bout. After several attempts Sullivan suplexed the 300+ pound Shane and got him up for a TKO that should have sealed Shane’s fate but Niemi distracted Dalton. This allowed Shane to recovered and hit Sullivan with a TKO but as the three count came Sullivan got his foot on the bottom rope. Shane went for a second TKO but Sullivan countered out and hit the Emeral Frosion but the pin was broken up by Mike Shane who attacked Sullivan. Bruce Steele came from the locker room and joined the assault as he hit Sullivan with the Big Dump. From nowhere came ROD STEEL (dressed to the nines) wielding a folding chair which scared off Steele and the Shane Twins but not Sullivan who was then tattooed in the head by Steel. Before Steel could do any more damage after he hit Sullivan with the Sky High, Justice, Mikey Tenderfoot and Mikey Batts came to save Sullivan. Niemi took the mic hostage and told the fans that 911 Inc was not dead despite reports from writers; it had been reborn with the addition of Bruce Steele and Rod Steel. Steel (who appeared to be channeling the spirit of Ric flair) told the fans he wanted the $100,000 that Andrews put on Sullivan and wanted to become the southern Heavyweight champion which would make him once again the ROD DAMN CHAMP!
