What's everyone's best of 2003 in lucha? You can list SoCal or Tijuana. I'll have mine up tomorrow or Sunday.

I didn't go to all that much lucha in TJ this year, so my list will be pretty SoCal biased.
Wrestler: Chilango
Promotion: Lucha Va Voom
Team: La Famillia de Tijuana / Gallineros
Rookie: Phoenix Star
I rarely miss a TJ show and make it out to So Cal FMLL and MWF shows quite a bit. Based on that, here are my picks:
Wrestler: Extreme Tiger
(the next Rey Misterio Jr who's tearin' it up in TJ)
Promotion: Promociones ONAC
(TJ promotion who gave all others a run for their money this past year scoring th Misterio-Wagner hair match. Watch out for Luchamania Internacional in 2004. If they continue what they started in 2003 they'll be a force in San Diego and SoCal.)
Tag Team: Gallineros
(don't know of many others and I think the Chivos are way over rated. Least this guys get the crowd moving)
Rookie: ?
(None that I can remember)
Match of the Year: Hair vs Hair - Rey Misterio vs Dr wagner in TJ. (Misterio lost, only his second hair match lost in 28 years. Sold out Auditorio made it even better)

you mentioned lucha internacional 2004. when is this taking place? i heard about this elsewhere also. about the match of the year, you got it 100% correct. i was in the front row where The Kiss was roming around planning his interfiernce. i was getting mad because he was circling the barracades following mysterio and he was all in my way. who would of thought it was my boyhood idol.

I shot the Wagner-Rey Sr match. And when I watched it later, it just didn't work.
I heard Luchamania Internacional is starting in March, most likely at Sweetwater High in National City on Saturday evenings. I known Rey Misterio, Psicossis(Nicho), Damian 666, and Sombra Vengadora have been locked in for the 2004 season. Misterioso, The Kizz, Blue Panther, Fuerza Guerrera, Dr Wagner, and La Parka have all committed to do Luchamania shows. Rey Misterio Jr has agreed to do a Friday show. Last year AWC, Angel, and Los Gallineros came down to do Luchamania and were well received. I heard Luchamania will be looking for more So Cal talent. 2004 should be their breakout year. Keep an eye out for this promotion.

Hey Bob, thanks for those 2 dvd's you dubbed off for me. i love the rey jr. vs. santos match. that classic greco roman style was great. i have been looking for that santo entrance song that he used on that match. do you know where i can find it? i think its from one of his movies.

Extreme Tiger rules. It's only a matter of time before he is a big star outside Tijuana.

I have no idea. There was a Santito-Mil movie on Ch 22 yesterday, and they showed a Mil-Buddy Rose match w Jesse Hernandez reffing, from 1984 in LA.

Those of you who know me know that the last thing that I would ever do is put over one of our opponents, but I have to completely agree with Steve on this.
Extreme Tiger is the fucking man. Everytime we were anywhere near him he was doing something insane. That crazy fuck dove 25+ feet from the top of el auditorio onto a group of us!
I have never been a fan of just doing stupid stunts either. This guy can work. He has confidence and intensity that is absolutely amazing and the skill to back it up.
I believe his border crossing problems will soon be cleared up and all I can say is I hope he gets in front of a crowd who can appreciate him. Great guy, great worker and a monsterous future.
So of course Adam ripped his mask off and we crucified him to a cage. It's just what we do.
Rock on Rockford!
Just to add on about Extreme Tiger, the stuff he's done with The San Diego Horsemen in Tj has been insane. The Horsemen always gets the crowd into it and are awsome heels as the "Gringos", and they sing the American National Anthem too! What else can you ask for. Extreme Tiger is definately the man to watch. He's moving at a faster pace than Rey Misterio Jr did and should surpass Misterio if given the same oppertunities. Hope to see more of the Horsemen against Extreme Tiger, Venom, and others.
