Tom Howard has carried the UPW Heavyweight Championship for almost a year now and had been a champion with the group for well over a year and a half. Howard is also credited with being "the head trainer" at UPW's Ultimate University. He has been one of the top gaijins that have wrestled for Zero One. He's also one-half of the NWA Intercontinental Tag Team Champions. Just when you think the guy can't do anymore, he's going to be starting a program with the NOAH group.
Howard will be working the shows from April 10th thru the 13th. I could be wrong but I believe he'll be working as a Z1 Foreign Invader, going for Kobashi's Triple Crown. What a honor for Tom Howard to receive a shot in NOAH!
It seems he's finally getting the spotlight he's so richly deserved.

I wish the best for tom. He has done a lot for uu and upw. It's a shame that he was never picked up by the wwf at the time now wwe. That goes to show you what a screw up the wwe is. Tom Howard you are the man in my eye.

Not trying to cause some problems but Tom Howard and the WWF/E story is this:
Tom Howard was offered a develpomental contract for the WWE, then WWF. He traveled with them for over a year but decided to get the 'f' out. He didn't want to do it anymore. He like to be his own man, so he turned down the contract for a renewal and stated to come back to UPW.
Vampiro and Steve Corino did the same thing. They both were offered a contract but they both like wrestling for themselves and they didn't want to be tied down.

Good for Tom! He is a really nice guy and hard worker. It's about time he gets his chance to shine! I think if he left UPW and went out on his own, by working even more shows then he already does, the sky would be the limit!

Oops! what I meant to say was that Tom Howard being so loyal to UPW has maybe held him back in certain aspects!

True but you say that he didn't want to be held down in a way upw is holding him down. Not trying to get heat on this one just speaking my mind.:)

WHEN?
I remember reading a Jim Ross statement when ECW was over, and he said that the "WWF has no interest in signing Steve Corino, but wishes him the best of luck." It was also mentioned in that Corino's scars on his forehead were not pleasing.
Also, what story could the WWE write for Corino anyway? How would they use him?

Wether Corino was offered a contract or not, he has stated that he won't work for WWE, mostly because of the style and tendency for short matches. It's on Slam!wrestling.com were he says something like "I get going at the 10 minute mark, 3 minute matches don't do it for me"
Also I totally agree,Tom Howard is the F'n Man

True the wwe just isn't that exciting any more. the've been around for 50 years. They ran out of good story line. It had to happen some time.

Your right, what kind of story can they come up for him. Exactly. But what about Tommy Dreamer? Nunkio (Little Guido)? I mean, they have the biggest roster of the world, but they only use 1/10 of the roster in angles or gimmicks.
He was offered a contract about late last year

Its funny how this started off being a thread about Tom Howard and turned into a Steve Corino thread. Kind of like Z1's top gaijin spot.
Anyways, I just wanted to point out why UPW is so top notch. It's former Heavyweight Champion and it's current International Jr. Heavyweight (with Z1) are the tag champions. And Tom Howard holds one half of the other prominent tag titles in NWA. Just thought it was interesting.

Um okay. TOM HOWARD is the man!
Happy? :)
Also, Nunzio (Guido) is looking A LOT like Tom Cruise lately!

Corina coulda been very valuable to WWF as a cruiserweight. Maybe not so much now that he's chopped his forehead into a million pieces but back when he was first starting to hit it off as an old school heel in ECW and the WWF lightweight division was flailing, he could have anchored the division well. He was a good American style worker who could talk, something the division never had. WWF missed the chance there.

Up-coming NOAH card:
4/10 at Osaka Prefectural Gym II:
*Daisuke Ikeda & Takashi Sugiura vs. Zero-One's Tom Howard & Steve Corino
I guess Corino and Howard will be working together quite often. It's kind of funny how Howard and Corino was supposed to go down at UPW and now the Japanese bookers have made them team very often.
