After looking at those photos, it's obvious to me that it was a good thing Rick Knox was in the building. In the hands of a lesser referee, this might have just been silly.

Yes. However, indy wrestling needs more support from legit companies like this, even if it means sacrificing a match to a bit of tasteful weirdness. That's what's more important. Besides, as I expected, PWG's fans were smart enough to understand this fact and gracious enough to "play along" and cheering for Kitty and booing Kuromi.
