Ok show, amazingly they actually decided to show 6 fights for the three hours...but even then through all the commecias I flipped between watching Klitchsko KO Brock and my Trojans lay to waste ORegon...overall a good night of viewing.

Shown on TV

1) Jorge Rivera def Edwin Dewees by TKO
Very short match with a somewhat controversial ending. Rivera caught Dewees with a few good shots and knocked him down and then was able to start laying some shots on him. Dewees covered up but wasnt moving causing the ref to call the fight. Dewees was of course pissed off and definitly didnt look hurt...but IMO if ur not going to move what good are u in a fight?

2) Din Thomas def Rich Clementi by RNC in the second round
Ok match both Thomas and Clementi, fighting at LW, had a good exchange in the first round but in the second Thomas caught Clementi with a very good punch to the face and Clementi basically crumpled under. Thomas got on top shoved an elbow into Clementi's face causing him to roll over into the RNC. Good showing by Thomas and afterwards he called out Sherk...but Im sure that fight wont be for a while...too many other BETTER fighters in the way.

3) Scott Smith KO Pete Sell in the second round
MATCH OF THE NIGHT..I hate to say it but may even be match of the year contender. These guys came out banging and I love to see an exciting fight like that (makes up for the rather boring lay n pray a thon of Bushido). Smith looked like he got the better of thr exchange in the first BUT in the second Sell caught Smith with a huge punch that might have broken one of Smith's ribs and he buckled over. Sell rushed in to finish off Smith but then Smith came out of nowhere with this HUGE ASS Punch that caught Sell right in the jaw and took him down, right after Smith fell over from the pain of his ribs. AMAZING ending to an awesome fight...must see just for the ending. post fight Smith said when he got hit he knew he had only one punch left in him and he went for it. I love that attitude.

4) Travis Lutter def Patrick Cote by armbar submission in the first to win the MW TUF finale
Suprisingly quick match, I knew as soon as Lutter got Cote down it was over but never thouhgt it would be as quick. Litteraly seconds after pulling him down Lutter caught Cote in the armbar and got the win. Feel sorry for Cote as he looked horirble in the match. Post fight Silva came out and they exhcnaged pleasantires...I dont think IMO Lutter has a shot.

5) Martin Kampmann def Thales Leites by unanimous decision
Eh not very impressed with either fighter....simple fight may have been better left not seen but considering everything else ending quickly for the night they needed this one to kill time.

Before the main event Rogan/Goldberg talked to Hughes/GSP on their thoughts of their fight and the final. Hughes scored asshole points when asked if he thought GSP was his toughest opponent and he blatanlty said no. Hughes seemed to disspell rumors that he was going to retire (as news broke earlier today on Sherdog.com that Hughes was planning on calling it quits afte the end of his current UFC contract which has only 1 fight left after the GSP fight). Nothing really of intreest of the interview.

6) Matt Serra def Chris Lytle by split decision to win the WW TUF finale
Really dissapointing match as it was pretty much Serra spending the whole fight trying to take Lytle down. I give Lytle credit for his excellent takedown defense but Serra was more the agressor and won in my books...I was also thanking god that it didnt getextended to a 4th round. Post fight Serra was asked who he would like to face Hughes or GSP and he stated in great fashion...I would like to face Hughes because he is an asshole but he'll fight anyone who is placed in front of him.

The show was a mixed bag with some short fights but some unimpressive bores. I really am intrested to see how much intrest the "big" superbowl PPV will be with a Lutter/Silva and Hughesor GSP/ Serra double headliner....

Tivo decided to record this for some reason, so I decided to watch it for some laughs while getting some work done on my reel.

Overall, another boring amateur hour showcase for the UFC. Why do all current MMA "stars" have a ton of poorly drawn tattoos and goatees?

Jorge Rivera def Edwin Dewees by TKO

Pretty terrible fight. Dewees looked very uncomfortable in the cage, constantly shifting and moving his arms for no reason. Both these guys spent the first minute of the fight bouncing up and down and feinting punches for no reason before they actually started to throw. Dewees throws a bunch of glancing arm punches while Rivera actually lands a few clean shots and hurts him pretty bad. Dewees then tries to use the cage to protect himself and curls up in a ball while Rivera lands more glancing shots to his gloves. The fight is then stopped.

After the fight, Rogan interviews Rivera with some pre-canned questions. Its pretty pathetic how bad these interviewers are that they don't even allow the fighters to recognize the people who helped them. God forbid they have to cut time away from XYIENCE commericals.

Din Thomas def Rich Clementi by RNC in the second round

I knew Din Thomas would win this fight when I heard Clementi say his game plan was to "have an exciting fight." The best comment of the night was Goldberg saying that Clementi had more experience than Din Thomas. I guess experience in MMA is fighting mis-matches at scrub toughman shows in Louisana or whatever.

I really dislike the "show of respect" fighters do CONSTANTLY during fights. Every time Clementi got hurt, he would smile and tap gloves with Thomas. WTF is that shit . . . it really upsets the flow of the fight to see one fighter continually "congradulating" his opponant during the fight.

Travis Lutter def Patrick Cote
I didn't really watch this fight, and it was over pretty quick, but I find it hilarious that Travis Lutter's nickname is "Serial Killer." That is just hilariously white trash.

Scott Smith KO Pete Sell in the second round
Fucking great match . . . if great matches were defined by the number of glancing arm punches to the gloves and blind haymakers. I give Smith credit though for the great psyche out . . . Pete Sell looks like the biggest idiot in MMA, LOL. I don't really see how Smith was "hurt" by some weak punch from an akward angle to the side. I doubt he could recover so quickly if that was a legit body shot. Either way, the ending was just the icing on the cake to solidify this as another UFC sloppy toughman level slugfest considered "great."

The one thing that really bothered me about this fight was Rogan constantly refering to the fact that Sell and Smith were "great friends" and how they loved each other and blah blah blah. Similar to the constantly congraduating your opponant thing, it really takes away from the fight for me to hear that these guys are "best friends" or whatever. If you really want to build up a fight as epic, check out some of the great battles between Morales and Barrera or Zab Judah/Floyd Mayweather or any Crazy Mike Tyson fight. You get the impression that these guys want to destroy each other, not this UFC "everyone respects the hell out of each other" crap.

Matt Serra def Chris Lytle
Boring fight, didn't even watch it. I couldn't care less about Matt Serra. The scoring system for MMA is really whacky. If a fighter throws a 1000 punches and only lands 150 of them, should they get credit for that? I don't see why the judges score takedowns and submissions that don't lead anywhere so high. I'm jsut not interested in seeing a guy take punches to the face then go for a takedown because he's getting hurt and then lay on his opponant.

My favorite part of this was at the begining when Joe Rogan said that Lytle was at a disadvantage because he has a family and a regular job as a firefighter and therefore would be able to "train" like a "full time fighter." First of all, with the UFC slave wages, its hard to imagine any of these guys being "full time fighters" without living in massive debt. Second, I thought these comments where hilarious coming from a drug addict like Joe Rogan, who has no concept of personal relationships or about doing something noble like firefighting. I'm sure Lytle coming home to his family after a hard day of honest work is 100x more rewarding than whatever Joe Rogan does. A pathetic attack.

Anyways, this show was terrible, the UFC is getting more and more terrible by the day, and I'm sick of watching shitty amateur fighters.

I had no idea this was even on, but I managed to catch part of the second or third replay of it before falling asleep. Pretty lackluster show overall, seeing Pete Sell getting hilariously deked was pretty funny though. I guess Smith had the wind knowcked out of him, but he sold the punch like a pro wrestler, and got Sell to bullrush him like a buffoon, nice. Main event was atrocious. As much as I hate Matt Serra, I hate Matt Hughes more, and it's humorous when two pricks despise eachother like Serra and Hughes do. I say let the two duke it out in the midcard while GSP fights a worthy contender next year.
