So Dec 9th will mark the return of the World Fighting Alliance who had a ok show with Matt Lindland/ Rampage Jackson headlining. The follow up show will be held Dec 9th at the Alladdin Theatre in Las Vegas, Nevada and will also air on PPV. The show titled King of the Streets II will have a US vs Brazil theme for the top five fights:

Main Event: “Texas Crazy Horse” Heath Herring (25-11-1) vs Pedro “The Rock” Rizzo (14-7-0)
Heath Herring at one time was one of the top heavyweights in the early PRIDE years taking out Tom Erikson, Enson Inoue and even Mark kerr. He was even placed in the match to determine the first PRIDE Heavyweight champions against Antonio Rodrigo Nog, which he sadly lost via a unanimous decision. Since his lost he went on a slide losing to Fedor Emelianenko, Mirko Filipovic and a rematch with Nog. Not enjoying his contract with PRIDE Herring jumped to K-1's newly formed HERO division with hopes of being the top star he couldnt be in PRIDE. Unfortunatly during his first match with Sam Greco he injured his knee and was out for the rest of the 2005 year. In his return fight he had the infamous kiss and KO with Yoshihiro "kiss" Nakao but followed that up with an easy win over Gary Goodridge. Its not known what herring's contract status is with K-1 (word is they werent on good terms) but now works with WFA.
Pedro "the Rock" Rizzo is similiar to Herring as at one point he was one of the top heavyweights in the early years of UFC making his impressive debut by manhandling UFC veteran Tank abbott. Rizzo then went on to beat former UFC heavyweight champion Mark Coleman, Tra Telligman and Tsuyoshi Kohsaka. With these wins he got his first crack at the heavyweight title but was beaten by (at the time) Heavyweight Champion Kevin Randleman. Rizzo bounced back by beating another UFC vet. Dan Severn and future UFC champ Josh Barnett leading to another UFC title shot this time against Randy Couture which he would lose again via decision. Rizzo got one more shot at Couture but lost via TKO this time. Shortly after Rizzo would dissapear from the MMA scene and 2 years later pop up in PRIDE where he has met unfortunate losses to Sergei Kharitonov and Roman Zentsov leading many to believe the once solid Rock isnt so solid anymore

“The California Kid” Urijah Faber (16-1-0) vs. Fabio Mello (4-4-0)
Faber is ione of the best kept secrets in the MMA scene, this small but powerful striker can do it all, strike, submit and take down. His only loss was to upstart rival Tyson Griffin with MANY hoping to see a rematch on the big stage in the UFC but Faber stated he hasnt been offered the right deal from the UFC heads yet.
Fabio Mello is a member of BTT who has been somewht an average figher with losses to Dokonjonsuke Mishima and to Gomi back at Bushido 4. Mello is pretty much in over his head in this fight.

“Razor” Rob McCullough (11-3-0) vs. Fabiano Iha (9-5-0),
Rob McCullough was a knock out machine in the World Extreme Championship before making his apperance at the last WFA show where he bet Harris Sarmiento by unanimous decision.
Iha was at one time a highly sought after Vale Tudo fighter making his first main stream apperance in UFC where he duffered back to back losses to LaVerne Clark and Save Menne as well as a lost to Frank Trigg in early PRIDE. Iha shook off the ealy fight jitters and came back with a strong three win streak taking out La Verne Clark in a remathc, Daiju Takase and Phil Johns but then lost again when he took on Caol Uno and then Din Thomas which lead to Iha leaving the UFC. Since then Iha has only fought twice since 2001 and his last fight was in 2005.

Lyoto Machida (7-0-0) vs. Alex Stiebling (17-9-1)
Machida is of course the Inoki prodigy who is known for being the only man to beat Rich Franklin (that is until Franklin's nose met Anderson Silva's knee). Machida's eagerly anticipated US debut was met with much criticism for being boring with a decision win over Vernon White. Will he be able to make it up a second time around.
Alex "the Brazillian Killa" Stiebling is no stranger to brazilian fighters winning the IVC 14 tournamnet where he had to face and beat 4 brazilian fighers in one night, and he did just that. That win got him a ticket into PRIDE where he beat Allan Goes and Wallid Ismail before being stopped by Anderson Silva at PRIDE 21. Stiebling then went into a slump losing to Yuki Sasaki in Pancrase and then Marvin Eastman at the WFA's first incarnation and then losing to Akira Shoji in a close fight in PRIDE which lead to him being let go by PRIDE. Stiebling came back with a 5 match win streak which including a submisison win over Joe Riggs before hitting another 4 match losing skid including being beat by lil Nog and knocked out by Vernon White. Stiebling's last fight was a decision win over Auggie Padekan.

Carlos Condit (18-4-0) vs. Jose “Pele” Landy-Johns (22-11-0);
Condit is another well versed figher who has an even number of wins by KO and by submission. His most notable wins would be a submission win over Frank Trigg and a KO win over Renato Verissimo.
Landy-Johns is a BJJ/ Muay Thai fighter who has foguth all over Brazil. He has a notable decision lost against Chuck Liddell in the International Vale Tudo promotion in Brazil as well as a win over Pat Miletich and a rare win over Matt Hughes (which they will probably play up). Landy-Johns tried out for PRIDE but was met with back to back losses to Daijiro Matsui and Carlos Newton. He is coming off of a deciison win.

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (25-6-0)vs Marvin “Beastman” Eastman (13-6-1)
Everyone knows Jackson who was made famous with his crazy demeanor, hillarious announcing and signature chain. Jackson made himself noticed when he entered in PRIDE, challenging poster boy Kazushi Sakuraba. Jackson put up a good fight but was ultimately tapped out. Jackson bounced bac with a 7 match win streak which included wins over Igor Vovchanchyn, Kevin Randleman and Murilo Bustamanete. Of course that streak was topped off with his win over Chuck Liddell. Rampage then set his sight on Wanderlei Silva but was taken out by the brazilian at the PRIDE MW 2003 GP finals. Jackson faces Silva again at PRIDE 28 but was again dominated by the brazilian and after a lackluster showing in the PRIDE 2005 MW GP where he lost to Shogun he soon left PRIDE and signed with the WFA where he defeated Matt Lindland in a very close fight in his debut match.
This is the match that prevented the Beastman from fighting on the PRIDE card in Vegas. Eastman has fougth all over the country, in the King of the Cage promotion where he lost to both Venon White and Rich Franklin. In the UFC where he lost to Vitor Belfort and Travis Lutter. And the Wold Extreme Fighting where he has beat Jason MacDonald. His last fight was at the first reborn WFA show where he fought Jorge Oliveira to a boing draw. This fight should defnitly be more exciting.

Jeremy “178” Williams, 41-5-1 (Boxing career, w/ 35 ko’s) vs John “Machine Gun” George (2-2-0);
Jeremy Williams is making his MMA debut with this match. For those who dont know him he is the bald guy who was a trainer and coach on the Boxing reality show the Contender. Williams is a two time former WBC Continetnal Americas Heavyweight title champion and holds the california record for fastest KO at 10 seconds in the first round! Williams was always a contender but neve ahcheived greatness. Williams announced his retirement from boxing and his foray into MMA earlier in the year and was supposed to particpate in K-1's Las Vegas GP but the NSAC would not allow it as his last boxing fight he was KO and thus medically suspended. He is cleared and ready for this match
John George is a newbie to the MMA scene and is a BJJ fighter who relies on his striking (both wins are by TKO). This may either be an exciting KO fight or the worst fight of the card.

Kit Cope (1-3-0) vs Shad Smith (7-6-1)
Cope's only claim to fame really is that he lost to Kenny Florian on the TUF season 2 finale. He sadly hasnt foguth since then.
Shad Smith makes his home in the King of the Cage promotion where he is coming off of a 4 fight losing streak including a lost against Charles Bennett. Atually this fight might be the worst of the card.

Antonio McKee (17-3-2) vs Zach Light (2-3-0)
McKee is anothe journey man who cant seem to finish his opponents off (13 of his wins are by decision). He has wins over Edwin Dewees, Shannon Ritch, Marcus Aurelio and a draw with Jason Black. One of his losses was against Karo Parisyan.
Zach Light is making his retun to the MMA world after almost 4 years. He made an appearance at UFC 37.5 where he got submitted by Pete Spratt and then went on to lose two more times against Tony Fryklund and Jeremy Jackson.

So the card so far looks lopsided with some intresting fights on the top and a lot of crap on the bottom...eh maybe will give it a watch but wont be paying for it.

Hmm, not too thrilled about this one. I'm guessing the price of the PPV is at least $29.95 too, so that doesn't help matters.

This will probably be better than UFC. I've heard of 95% of the people on the card which is something I haven't been able to say about a UFC in 2-3 years. Jackson-Eastman was an awesome fight in KOTC a few years ago.

True, Tom. As for Jackson-Eastman, I'm betting it'll be the best fight of the night (hence it being in the main event), but it'll be interesting to see if the two can recapture that fire they had years ago. WFA needs to do a tournament or some type of mini-playoff to determine some champions, there's only so many superfights they can put on until people stop caring.

Actually herring/ Rizzo is the headliner....

Herring/Rizzo could only be good if Herring forgets how sloppy his striking is and tries to throw a bunch of haymakers Rizzo's way. Rizzo made his career landing big counter punches against sloppy strikers.

If that doesn't happen, Herring will take Rizzo down, Rizzo will hold on for dear life (which he's pretty good at), it'll get stood up, and repeat. Herring Unanimous decision, terrible fight.

Jackson/Eastman's not likely to be as good as thought. Both are lesser fighters in different ways from their first fight. Jackson is much more skilled but about 10% as motivated. Eastman's basically the same guy although less explosive.

When did Herring stop ignoring his Sambo background? Nuts to striking, Herring should just manhandle Rizzo and slap on a submission.

Thats a shame they are going to lose a LOT of momentum.
