Seeing as no one has commented on the third season, just wanted to know what everyone else thinks of it. I think this season is going pretty good, better than the second season, not sure if it's been better than the first though. This week's fight was pretty interesting though. The deaf guy, Matt, is an animal in the ring, and probably pushes himself farther then he should (hence the extreme exhaustion he had at the end of the fight). His problem though is that he only knows how to throw punches and take guys down, which he can do at will, but once on the ground he doesn't know what to do other than throw punches. He could have beat the shit-talking Mike many, many times during the fight, but Matt just didn't know how to finish the fight. Tito and his coaches really need to focus more on Matt and teach him how to mount guys on the ground (Matt giving up potential mounts during the fight = No!), some submissions, and work on blocking punches and maybe some kicks. If the best MMA fighters are "5-Tool Fighters", Matt is a "2-Tool Fighter", he just needs to work on those other 3 areas.

Another thing is that him being deaf, he can't really get any coaching during the fight unless he looks to his corner, which could be potentially dangerous unless his opponent is on the ground and far away. Mike completely sucked in the fight though, for all the stupid things Shamrock has said and done, he was in the right for this fight. Mike should have thrown way more knees and kicks to counter Matt's punches, and for a Jiu-Jitsu guy (I think that's what his discipline is), he really sucked at submissions. Plus his conditioning was horrible, he gassed out a couple minutes into the first round after trying to out-punch Matt.

So yeah, all 8 guys who made it to the next round all seem pretty good or have the potential to get much better. Should be an exciting next month to see who's gonna make it to the finals. I'm predicting Bisping Vs. Hamil and Grove Vs. Starnes in the finals.

Yea I agree, this season is LOADS better than seaosn 2....on the fence about season 1. I think the fights for the most part have been good and competitive...though I think without the challenges the shopws get kinda boring and repetiitve but oh well beats having to see deoderant being pimped out like no mans buisness.

As for Matt...I like him but yea definitly dont see him going very far with his lack of ground game. U need to be well rounded to surivve in the MMA world and if u can take a guy down but dont know how to submit him ur going to end up very dissapointed.

Deaf Matt's boxing skills were horrible. He was lucky his opponent was even worse. He would not last a round against a LHW with good take down defense and average striking.

From the fights I've watched on youtube it looks like all these dudes trained in boxing/muy thai for like a week and never went back again. That old saying where you have to train with people better than you really rings true in American MMA as all these guys just train with a bunch of people that suck equally so they never improve.
