Reviews: Fit Pit Pro Wrestling's ''Run Rookie Run,'' July 18th, 2010

Misc Fit Pit Pro Wrestling's ''Run Rookie Run,'' July 18th, 2010
Chatsworth, CA
Attendance: 80

The Fit Pit Pro Wrestling School is located in an industrial park in beautiful Chatsworth, CA. The complex itself is kind of impressive, if not entirely odd for a pro wrestling event (you walk through a series of hallways and past the locker room to reach the main floor, where a lowered pro wrestling ring sits behind rows of professional gym equipment (and just before the row of punching bags)), but everything about Fit Pit Pro Wrestling is a little bit odd.

Misc March 23rd, 2002. The birth of the Alternative Wrestling Show would come with a co-promoted event with Fuerza Mexicana de Lucha Libre. The launch came at a very competitive time in Southern California Wrestling, active wrestling promotions at the time were Xtreme Pro Wrestling, Ultimate Pro Wrestling, Revolution Pro, Empire Wrestling Federation, World Pro Wrestling, West Coast Wrestling Alliance, Golden State Championship Wrestling, Car-Consumer Pro Wrestling, and seemingly more and more promotions opening up every day. The first event featured a total of six matches. "The Hardcore Kidd" Aaron Aguilera defeated King Jackal. B-Boy defeated Lil' Cholo. Profeta & Dr. Muerte defeated Principe Unlimited & Acero Dorado. Essa Rios bested Piloto Sucida. And in the Main Event, La Parka teaming with Shocker defeated Super Boy and Capitian Oro. A pretty impressive first showing for Bart. After over a hundred events and a little over seven years of promoting events, Bart Kaptizke has decided to close the AWS Store and the Alternative Wrestling Show. What Bart has given to the wrestling fans of Southern California will continue to impact this area for years to come, be it something as simple as merchandise, a venue to train, or a venue to host a show. The things Bart has done for this scene are both tangible and intangible. Everyone from SoCal UNCENSORED would extend our deepest gratitude to Bart. The last event from AWS will be this Saturday 7:30pm and you should make plans to attend this event. The Finale from AWS will feature over 120 Wrestlers in a Three Ring Battle Royal.  Also scheduled are title defenses for Johnny Paradise, Peter Avalon, and the Ballard Brothers.

Thank You Bart!

Misc In 2001, the Southern California Pro-Wrestling Hall of Fame inducted its first class of Legends into what would become a regular annual induction of Southern California's finest wrestlers from World Wrestling Alliance, National Wrestling Alliance, American Wrestling Association, Extreme Championship Wrestling, World Championship Wrestling, and World Wrestling Entertainment. The names in the Hall transcend styles of wrestling and time. The names honored in the Hall are guys like Freddie Blassie, Gorgeous George, Lou Thez, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Ed "the Strangler" Lewis, Mil Mascaras, "Judo" Gene LeBell, John Tolos, El Hijo De Santo, and EWF's own Jesse Hernandez. And then it hit me when I was reading through Steve's Wrestler of the Decade thread on the forums. As we look back on the past decade, will those wrestlers, venues, promoters, ever become eligible for the Southern California Pro-Wrestling Hall of Fame? Could Super Dragon and Joey Ryan have their names next to Tolos and Mascaras? I have heard quiet rumblings that the Hall Of Fame could become active again real soon. I am looking forward to it.
