SoCal News & Notes 09/20/2017

The latest updates from around Southern California’s wrestling scene including WWE, Bumps and Brewses, The Iron Will Challenge, PCW, PWG, SoCal Pro, Maverick, Pro, Blood Bros, and all of the week’s events. Click for today’s News & Notes.

Bayley has been added to the Raw women’s title match at WWE’s No Mercy at The Staples Center on September 24th. The match will now be a fatal-five-way with Alexa Bliss defending against Sasha Banks, Nia Jax, Emma, and Bayley.

The current lineup for the PPV is Brock Lesnar defending the WWE Universal title against Braun Strowman; John Cena versus Roman Reigns; Alexa Bliss defending the Raw women’s title against Sasha Banks, Nia Jax, Emma, and Bayley in a fatal five-way match; Finn Balor against Bray Wyatt; Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose defending the Raw tag-team championship against Cesaro & Sheamus; and Neville defending the WWE cruiserweight title against Enzo Amore.

If you are going to Bumps and Brewses on September 23rd in Los Angeles, if you haven’t bought tickets already you may wish to buy them in advance. I’ve been told they will only be able to take credit card for tickets at the venue and won’t be able to take cash.

There have been a few matches added to the Iron Will Challenge show that features Ryan Kidd versus Dicky Mayer in a 60-minute iron man on October 6th in San Marcos. Matches announced are Mikey O’Shea versus Ray Rosas and Hunter Freeman versus Mariachi Loco, plus Dark Usagi, Dirty Doug, and Motros Jungle have been added. Profits from the event will be donated to fight based PTSD in the military in California.

Pacific Coast Wrestling has announced Zack Sabre Jr. will be on their December 1st show in Wilmington. Due to an injury suffered last weekend, Davey Richard had to cancel all of his remaining bookings for 2017, and will not be on the December 1st PCW show.

PWG announced All Star Weekend 13 will be taking place on October 20th and 21st. No matches have been officially announced, but Ricochet mentioned on Twitter he will be getting his shot at the PWG title against Chuck Taylor he earned by winning the Battle of Los Angeles.

SoCal Pro announced Joey Ryan, Devin Sparks, and Sinn Bodhi for their Rumble in Oceanside show on October 14th. This will be Ryan and Sparks return to the promotion after long absences. Devin Sparks last wrestled for the promotion in August 2015, and I don’t believe Joey Ryan has appeared for SoCal Pro since 2009. Sinn Bodhi will be making his debut.

Maverick Pro announced their return show for October 7th in Los Angeles. Announced so far is Scorpio Sky versus Kevin Kross and Ricky Mandel versus Victor Romanoff.

Ludark Shaitan will be making her Southern California debut at Blood Brothers’ Goddess of Gore women’s death match tournament on March 3, 2018. She is the first name announced for the eight women tournament.
