SoCal News & Notes 09/14/2017

Today’s News & Notes features updates on a Southern California return, CWFH, Vendetta, FIST Combat, FCW, Desert Pro, House of Pain, and more. Cluick for today’s update.

Kaiju Big Battel will be making its Southern California return on October 20th in conjunction with TwitchCon, the convention devoted to the Twitch streaming service. While Kaiju Big Battel, where monsters fight in a wrestling ring, have made several Southern California appearances in their history, this will be their first appearance here since 2009. They were last on the west coast as part of Wrestlemania week in 2015 with a show in San Jose.

Championship Wrestling from Hollywood has announced that Jack Swagger will be facing Eric Watts at their September 23rd tapings in Port Hueneme. Also scheduled for that show is the CWFH debuts of Tim Storm, who is the current NWA World Heavyweight champion, and Nick “Magnus” Aldis. Having the NWA Heavyweight champion on the show should be interesting considering CWFH promoter David Marquez‘ history with the NWA. This month actually marks exactly 5 years since Championship Wrestling from Hollywood left the NWA and Marquez created the United Wrestling Network.

Also announced for the September 23rd tapings will be PAC 3 defending their United Wrestling Network tag-team titles against Reno Scum.

Vendetta Pro, which was the last Southern California promotion to be a member in the NWA, is leaving the organization effective October 1st. They have already began removing the NWA name and logo from their social media and have rebranded their titles. On last weekend’s show they unified the Vendetta Pro heavyweight title and the NWA Western States title when Rik Luxury defeated Apostle Judah Matthews. The unified title is now the Vendetta Pro Western States title.

FIST Combat has announced that they have suspended B-Boy for 30 days for his attack on Ruby Raze at their last show. They also announced that the match between True Grit and Reno Scum that was setup at the last show will be taking place on December 8th in San Diego.

Finest City Wrestling has moved its October show to Sunday the 15th so not to compete with SoCal Pro’s Rumble in Oceanside that same night.

Barring any last minute match cancellations or additions, B-Boy’s match with Tyler Bateman at September 29th’s FCW show will be the 2,275th of his career.

Desert Pro will be returning on October 7th with a show at the Sparta Boxing Gym in El Centro. The main event is scheduled to be Fidel Bravo and Ryan Kidd versus Arez and Eli Everfly. Also on the show is Peter Avalon versus Andy Brown.

Steve Pain will be facing Aerostar at the October 22nd House of Pain show in La Puente.

Dicky Mayer will be challenging Honda Ayuma for the UWA Middleweight championship on September 18th in Tokyo, Japan.

Friar Juan Roman has been removed from the remainder of Empire Wrestling Federation’s September events due to a reported injury.
