The Clela Arena is Closing Down

Word was received tonight that the Clela Arena, sometimes known as the UEW Arena, is closing effective immediately to wrestling. The venue has been home to countless promotions in Southern California, most notably UEW and more recently UIPW.

There were quite a few upcoming shows scheduled at the venue, including UIPW’s sixth anniversary show this weekend that featured John Hennigan, and no word has been announced on updated locations for those shows. Most of UEW’s recent shows have been held at VFW Post #10040 in Sun Valley, though they have not yet officially confirmed any upcoming dates there. The Clela Arena was run by UIPW’s promoter Cary, and he is currently working on obtaining a new building.

The venue first became known locally as UEW’s primary venue and the home of their wrestling school. Over time the building began holding more and more wrestling events, and a different lucha libre promotion ran their seemingly weekly. The venue is also the current home of SCWA and was the site of Sabotage’s second show, and almost was the location of Sabotage 4.

Stay tuned to SoCalUncensored.com for updates on the canceled shows and the future of the promotions involved.
