The Ultimate Fighting Championship was originally set to hold UFC 208 in Anaheim, CA on January 21st, 2017 at the Honda Center, but eventually postponed and moved the event to Brooklyn, NY on February 11th, 2017 at the Barclays Center due to the promotion being unable to secure a championship fight for the card. Had the UFC held its event in Anaheim on January 21st, 2017, it would’ve been running directly against Bellator 170: Ortiz vs. Sonnen at the Forum in Inglewood, CA.

UFC 214 will be the UFC’s seventh event at the Honda Center in Anaheim since 2006. In the past, the Honda Center has played host to UFC 59: Reality Check featuring Tim Sylvia vs. Andrei Arlovski for the UFC Heavyweight Championship, UFC 63 featuring Matt Hughes vs. B.J. Penn for the UFC Lightweight Championship, UFC 76, UFC 121 featuring Cain Velasquez vs. Brock Lesnar for the UFC Heavyweight Championship, the first UFC On Fox broadcast, and played host to the first women’s division fight in UFC history at UFC 157 when Ronda Rousey defeated Liz Carmouche in the main event.
