UFC 208 moved from Anaheim to Brooklyn, Anaheim return now set for August 5, 2017

After announcing UFC 208 would be taking place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced today that the event will now be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. on February 11th, 2017 due to the lack of available title fights according to a report from the LA Times. With the move, the UFC has announced that it will be returning to the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA on August 5th, 2017.

Tickets for UFC 208 were set to go on sale this week, and the only two bouts that were reportedly being targeted for the event included a flyweight bout between Wilson Reis and Ulka Sasaki, as well as a reported bout between Glover Teixeira and Jimi Manuwa. This event was scheduled to be the first UFC event in Southern California since UFC 199 on June 4th, 2016 at The Forum in Inglewood, CA where Michael Bisping defeated Luke Rockhold to become the UFC Middleweight Championship. UFC 208 in Anaheim was also going to be going up against a planned Bellator MMA event, which is set to be taking place at The Forum in Inglewood, CA on that night.

With the UFC postponing its planned event in Anaheim, CA for January 21st, Bellator MMA will now be running their event, Bellator 170: Ortiz vs. Sonnen, unopposed at The Forum in Inglewood, CA. Bellator 170: Ortiz vs. Sonnen is scheduled to feature Tito Ortiz taking on Chael Sonnen in the main event, Paul Daley taking on Brennan Ward, and Ralek Gracie scheuled to face Hisaki Kato. Bellator 170 will be airing on Spike TV that night, with prelims being streamed on Spike.com.
