Lucha Underground News and Notes 01/16

Television Taping
Television Returns to the Underground this weekend and again next weekend. The window for making reservations has already closed. Last week featured dark matches with Tessa Blanchard (who was reportedly injured) and Sami Callahan. The El Rey Network is doing a marathon of the first season on January 23rd and 24th ahead of the second season premiere on January 27th.

Temple Rumors

Famous B with Chavo Guerrero, Ricky Banderas, and MVP

Rumors of MVP signing with the company popped up earlier this week after the former WWE & NJPW star posted photos from Lucha Underground with Ricky Banderas (Mil Muertes) and Chavo Guerrero.  Although it is possible that the former WWE US Champion and IWGP Intercontinental Champion could still sign with the group, it should be noted that MVP was in Southern California as part of the PCW  Event, “Release the Kraken” in Torrance in which MVP went to a no contest in an anything goes match against the Sheik.

It is also being rumored that WWE’s Daniel Bryan may have already requested his release from the WWE with hopes of joining the NJPW Roster and others are speculating that he would also be perfect to work Lucha Underground in between tours of New Japan.  Personally I think this is a ridiculous rumor and I don’t put any stock into it.

Chavo Guerrero Jr.
Chavo Guerrero Jr. was recently on a podcast dishing about the second season of Lucha Underground. Any fan should definitely give it a listen. He talks about what can be expected from Rey Mysterio, Joey Ryan, and more.

Upcoming Bookings…
Many talents have been looking for bookings in February and March. February was expected to be a month off, with tapings for season three starting in March. At this time, the only confirmed dates for talent are the final weekend in January and the show or shows that they will do WrestleMania weekend.
