Jay Cal’s View #141

The Champ Is Here

Please bare with me.  I’d like to ask you for a favor this week. Please visit http://walkrun.stjude.org/SoCalUncensored and make a simple donation.  September 26th I’m participating in the Los Angeles St. Jude’s Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer.  I can’t think of a greater cause worthy of my time and energy and hopefully you’ll join me or even make a small donation to an organization that does so much for so many.  Thank you in advance.

Willie Mack to Evolve?
No, it’s no Pokemon deal, the reigning AWS Heavyweight Champion Wille Mack is set to debut for EVOLVE on October 17th in Queens and the following night in Deer Park as part of the EVOLVE 49 & EVOLVE 50 shows. Gabriel Ramirez, promoter of the Northern California based Pro Wreslting Revolution (who helped to promote the King of the Indies Event that took place during Wrestlemania Weekend) was emphatic about Mack and Rey Horus both being part of his promotion and was happy for them. All the best Willie from your friends in SoCal.

Congrats to the Ladies…
Last weekend a new OWA Women Champion was crowned and Lucha VIP hosted a Woman Tournament to for the Lucha VIP Cup.  First Datura defeated Amazona and Lady Lee to crown a new champion in NO DQ, No Countout Match at the Oddity Wrestling Alliance.  Then the next night Amazona outlasted the likes of Raze, Sage Sinn, Lady Datura, The Fallen Flower Kikyo, and Thunder Rosa.

Pacific Coast Wrestling
4.5 Million dollars is what it cost to air a thirty second advertisement during the 2015 Superbowl. One of the fundamental aspects of business is marketing. Any business knows that establishing a brand is almost as important as the product your selling. Pacific Coast Wrestling (PCW) has done a great job of marketing themselves. 16,314 followers on Facebook. Several fans of their page already suggesting that PCW is the “Future of Wrestling…” Such brand loyalty in such a short amount of time without even running a show is breath taking.

So what do we know of PCW, if you follow the facebook page they have a toll free number 855-70-PACIFIC info line, which really doesn’t list much information as of yet. They have an affinity for The Monster Factory & Pro Wrestling Syndicate in New Jersey, New Japan Pro Wrestling (Puroresu in general), Triple A in Mexico, video editing and photo shop, recruiting talents from Santinos Bros and IWL, taking shots at TNA, and post a lot of wrestling articles, but yet not one from this site. As far as I can tell they have four confirmed wrestlers… Doomsday (I believe from the East Coast), who reminds me a lot of the WWE’s Boogey Man (I haven’t seen him eat any worms yet,) Jacob “The Riot” Diez, Che Cabrerra, “Nomad” Damon Divine, and Ric Ellis, all found from their facebook page which has been posting since April of this year. Not only that, but they already are selling merchandise (t-shirts, hats, “booty” shorts I asked their facebook page when their first show would be scheduled and was told that they are “Working on signing with a venue today. Should be announcements any time.”  However after months of talk and hats, nothing has been announced and we have to start to wonder if anything ever will.  It’s time for PCW too stop talking about the labor and show me the baby.

United Wrestling Network
Coming off the 5th Anniversary Show, there is reason to celebrate for the CWFH faithful. Starting Saturday October 3rd, Championship Wrestling from Hollywood will now air at 4PM on KDOC-TV, in a sort of TBS Saturday Night feel. Also congratulations to “Main Event” James Morgan who became the new UWN Television Champion filling the vacancy left when Avalon had to forfeit the championship to concentrate on the Heritage Title. The latest upload to the Patreon streaming service is episode 226, which originally aired last week (September 13th). On the big night where there would be a single champion crowned, the Summer Classic Semi-Finals matched up Ryan Taylor and Big Duke and Che Cabrera and “Main Event” James Morgan. Of course it all leads to the huge match between Hollywood Heritage Champion YUMA and United Wrestling Network Television Champion “Pretty” Peter Avalon. If you’re a member of the subscription service, you also receive bonus matches that are these one of a kind never before seen matches that have not been aired on the weekly CWFH Television Program; RockNES Monsters defending the Hollywood Heritage Tag Titles against Natural Selection with Percy Pringle III and Los Luchas from June 26th 2010 in Yuma Arizona, Daniel Bryan vs. Sean “X-Pac” Waltman from November 11th 2007 in Peth Australia, AJ Styles vs. Trent Barretta on June 14th 2014 at Port Hueneme California, and most recently added Chase Stevens & Andy Douglas (The Naturals) taking on Romeo Roseli & Antonio Thomas (The Heart Throbs) from the Tsongas Arena in Lowell MA from July 7th 2006.  Subscription rates start as low as $2. Visit UWN powered by Patreon.  It’s perfect for those of us who do not have access KDOC-TV or YouToo America.

SoCal Pro In the News
For the third time in so many months SoCal Pro Wrestling was featured in the San Diego County Media.  First it was a live television report.  Now it’s in Escondido Magazine that highlights the SoCal Pro Wrestling School as well as their shows at the Oceanside Boys and Girls Club.  Union Tribune North County, also recently covered one of SoCal Pro’s shows. It’s always a treat when the media helps to support the local scene. Kudos to SoCal Pro.
