Jay Cal’s View #130

Celebrate your Independence by watching the Independents this weekend, six matches total from traditional wrestling, lucha libre, freaky stuff, and more.  Did you get your PWG Tickets last night?  I’m going to Empire Wrestling Federation tonight, are you?  The CWFH’s United Network has some cool updates and you should definitely check out the Red Carpet Rumble.  And more…

PWG Threemendous Front Row Sells Out
Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has to have broken some kind of record.  Tickets went on sale at 8pm and the front row were sold out minutes later.  PWG continues to put out amazing cards and Threemendous is no different, Akira Tozawa returns, The Young Bucks defend the PWG Tag Titles against Angélico & Jack Evans and PWG celebrates their twelfth anniversary.  I tend to wonder why they don’t move to a larger venue.  If you missed out on getting tickets, AWS has a nice alternative the following night with Brian Cage challenging Willie Mack for the AWS Heavyweight Title.

The EWF Arena
I have to admit, I’m excited. I haven’t been to an EWF show since 2010. And to be honest, I really have wanted to get to another show more recently; but scheduling, babies, and a myriad of other excuses have prevented me from heading to Covina, to check out the EWF Arena. And to be perfectly honest, there are two reasons why I’m going tonight. Gatson vs. Darevko is a match up worth postponing my vacation until Saturday Morning for. Sasha is underrated, point blank he’s a much better worker than he gets credit for. People get lost in his gimmick, which is hilarious, but his work with Che Caberra in the Revolution is often over looked. Dudes have had a lot of good matches.  And why Gatson isn’t being booked everywhere is a real “head-scratcher” for me.  And a close second is Gary Yap and his Man In Black.  What the fuck did I just say?  Gary Yap?  Yeah, that son of a gun has released a half dozen good promo/hype videos and the most recent one was excellent.  If SCU did have a manager of the year, Gary Yap might be running away with it.  Needless to say the MIB has been an interesting development since late last year and it’ll be interesting to see what EWF and Gary have in store for whomever dons the black hood.

United Wrestling Network
The UWN powered by Patreon, is perfect for those of us who do not have access KDOC-TV or YouToo America. Newest episodes of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood are uploaded usually prior to the airing on Sunday Mornings.  Currently available for streaming are; RockNES Monsters defending the Hollywood Heritage Tag Titles against Natural Selection with Percy Pringle III and Los Luchas from June 26th 2010 in Yuma Arizona, Daniel Bryan vs. Sean “X-Pac” Waltman from November 11th 2007 in Peth Australia, AJ Styles vs. Trent Barretta on June 14th 2014 at Port Hueneme California, and most recently added Chase Stevens & Andy Douglas (The Naturals) taking on Romeo Roseli & Antonio Thomas (The Heart Throbs) from the Tsongas Arena in Lowell MA from July 7th 2006. Last week’s upload included the episode that aired on June 28, 2015. Cold Cold World and the Revolution did battle. Television Champion Kevin Martenson defends against Mike Dalite. Todd Chandler and Steven Andrews face off, one-on-one. And the Heritage Champion Yuma defends against an Open Door Challenge. Next weekend the Red Carpet Rumble returns to the Oceanview Pavilion in Pt. Hueneme. Matches already scheduled are Kevin Martenson defending his Television Championship against Brian Myers (formerly WWE’s Curt Hawkins). “Mr. Azucar” returns to Hollywood take on debuting from the Pacific Northwest Colt Toombs. Thatcher & Gulak defend their newly acquired Heritage Tag Titles against Reno Scum. In a match what will not be televised TNA rivals Kenny King will face off against Eli Drake (formerly known as Shaun Ricker). Scorpio Sky will challenge YUMA for the Heritage Heavyweight Championship and of course the Red Carpet Rumble, 30 man over the top rope battle royal.
