A Year in Review

This is Draven UnScripted with special look back on the Indy Number 2013scene of 2013. With 2013 over, I look back on the year & think that overall it was a good year for Pro Wrestling in So Cal. This year definitely had its ups & downs but everything has a way of working out one way or another.

We saw Santino bros rise as one of the promotions to showcase new & current So Cal talent this year. Wrestling Care brought us a unique & entertaining shows that gives back to a noble cause. Promotions like AWS, So Cal Pro, IWL, CWFH, EWF, Knokx Pro, AOW & PWG continue to show dominance in 2013 & we were fortunate to have a special appearance from Dragon Gate USA this year.  We saw Lucha Libre action with Lucha Pro, MWF, WPW & UIPW & welcomed New Star, OWA & Aztec Pro this year but we also said goodbye to MPW, Mex Pro & The Pineda Pappy Dome where it hosted several promotions like LAW, Apex Pro & Brian Kendricks Wrestling Pro Wrestling.

In 2013, some of your favorite Indy shows made it easier to watch them as Championship Wrestling from Hollywood made a deal with Mav tv, Insane Wrestling League got ROKU, Santino Bros is on Ustream & UIPW is on Ponderlatinotv.com.

Champions were crowned throughout Southern California with favorites like Lestat & Mariachi Loco, PPRAY, Los Bandidos, Anchors Away, The Von Dooms & The Fallen Empire achieve Tag team gold. Talents like Scorpio Sky, Mikey O’Shea, James Morgan, Famous B, BBOY, Big Duke, Jacob Diez, Ray Rosas, El Ridiculoso, Sycko Stu & Misterioso getting singles gold too.

This year also had its share of memorable matches from various promotions like BBoy vs Scorpio Sky, Ray Rosas vs Johnny Savoi, Ryan Taylor vs Tyler Bateman, The Red Carpet Rumble, Timothy Thatcher vs Oliver John, Brawlin Bo Cooper vs GQ Money, Big Duke vs Destro to name a few.

2013 also gave us the chance to see some of So Cal’s talent make their way to the “Big Companys” as Brian Cage & Adam Pearce took part of  TNA’s Gutcheck as well as “Pretty” Peter Avalon as he is now part of TNA’s roster. Shaun Ricker, Samurai del Sol & El Generico are now part of WWE as well as “GQ Money” Ryan Katz is now part of WWE Creative. But we also welcomed home Joey Ryan as well as welcomed Former WWE star Matt Striker to CWFH.

But we also said goodbye to those who left a mark in Professional Wrestling like William Moody aka Paul Bearer/Percy Pringle III & Roland Alexander. These men guided so many wonderful talent throughout the years & will forever leave a lasting memory in pro wrestling.

So with 2014 here what does is hold for So Cal? Which promotion will stand out? Will we see another one say goodbye? Which star will break out & claim 2014 as their year? Which match will steal the show? All I can do is quote a talent by saying, “Are You Ready”?

This is Mike Draven…Happy New Year Everyone!
