[RECAP] IWL NEW ERA 8 Sept 1st 2013

This is Draven Unscripted with a full recap of Insane Wrestling League’s New Era 8 from the civic center in Monrovia, Ca.

As usual with IWL shows, we start off with a pre-show match featuring the stars of the breakout division in a triple threat encounter before the actual start of the IWL show.

“The Scourge of Grizzly Hills” Joseph Knox defeated The American Oni Durken & Che Cabrera when Durken delivered a Spinning neckbreaker into a Dragon Sleeper only to have Knox drive both knees into the back of Durken & pinning Cabrera for the win & to advance to the Breakout Championship match later in the show.

The show officially kicks off with IWL Ring Announcer Tony Graziano “Welcoming” OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAeveryone as only as he does..”non PG” as well as he introduced our special guest host the original GLOW girl Little Egypt as she too was excited to be there & ready for some wrestling action.

We start off with the team of Willie Mack & Famous B make their way to the ring ready for some tag team action but IWL Promoter Vic Luna comes out to inform everyone that the team of the Suburban Commandos were unable to make it to the show. But Vic Luna announces that for the first time ever in IWL it will be Willie Mack vs Famous B.

Willie Mack def Famous B with a Thunder Bomb. Afterward a hard fought match, Willie & B showed respected to each other in this great opening match to start the show.

IWL Breakout Championship:

Simon Lotto def Seville the Thrill, “The Scourge of Grizzly Hills” Joseph Knox & “The High Flying Sensation” Steven Andrews when after everyone was hitting everyone, Lotto deliver Double Knees to the back of Seville’s head to get the three count & retain the championship. After the match, Andrews was so upset he attacked Seville with a TKO as he complained about the lose & left . Knox also upset at Seville but didn’t attack him like Andrews did.

DOG COLLAR Match for Justin Ryke’s Freedom:OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

At a recent IWL “Unhinged” episode, we saw Justin Ryke lose a match to Pinky & thus becoming a member of the Nobodies. This is Ryke’s final chance to be free of the Nobodies or become Pinky’s property FOREVER.

Justin Ryke def Pinky when Ryke wrapped the chain around a Crimson masked Pinky & made him unconscence. Justin Ryke is now free from Pinky’s clutches & Ryke said its his time to chase after the championship. One of Pinky’s Nobodies tried to help him only to be on the receiving end of Pinky’s Chokeslam/GTS finisher.

“Big Nasty” Eric Watts def Mikey O’Shea with a Bicycle Kick. After the match, both competitors shook hands in sportsmanship.

Little Egypt made her way into the ring & talked about how she was enjoying her evening at New Era 8 until “Hollywood’s Own” Joey Ryan came out to see if Little Egypt wanted a “Mustache” ride. IWL Anarchy Champion Eric Cross came out & wanted to see if Little Egypt was interested in him only to get blindsided by Ryan & this started the IWL Anarchy Championship Match.

“Hollywood’s Own” Joey Ryan def Eric Cross when he deliver a swinging neckbreaker from the top rope onto a pile of chairs for the win & to become THE NEW IWL ANARCHY CHAMPION. Ryan grabbed the mic & said that the “BIGGER” Man won tonight but he hopes for another match with Cross.

IWL Tag Team Championship:

The Monster Mafia (Ethan Page & Josh Alexander) def The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) when the Bucks were setting up their finisher & Alexander tripped up Nick Jackson on the top rope & Page rolled up Matt Jackson for the win & to become THE OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERANEW IWL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS.

“Unbreakable” Michael Elgin def “The New Age Punisher” BBOY with a powerbomb into the turnbuckle & then a Spiral Powerbomb for the 3 count in this hard hitting match. After, Elgin took the mic & talked about while he was training he watch BBOY matches from the past & said that this was an Honor for him to compete against BBOY. They embraced to a ovation from the fans..very good match.

Main Event Ladder Match for the IWL Championship:

Ray Rosas def Johnny Savoi to become THE NEW IWL CHAMPION. After the match, Rosas also talked on how Savoi brought it to this match tonight & thanked him. Savoi presented the championship to Rosas as Eric Cross was in the ring & congratulated Rosas on becoming the champion only to have Cross low blow Rosas, hit him with the Cross Out & nailed Savoi with the championship. Cross then proclaimed that the only one in IWL that will be the longest reigning champion will be him.

IWL once again delivered a great night of pro wrestling. From top to bottom, every match had fans wanting more. We saw high flying, hardcore, ground & pound technical style matches this evening with each competitor bring their absolute best in the matches. Lots of blood was shed this evening & new champions were crowned. But as to my Matches of the Night, two matches stood above the rest this evening:

Monster Mafia vs Young Bucks

Ray Rosas vs Johnny Savoi

Young Bucks/Monster Mafia: This was the first time seeing the Monster Mafia from Ontario, Canada & they were very good grapplers. These two men took it to the fan favorite Young Bucks throwing every dirty tactics. We saw so many great combo moves from both teams with everyone talking about a Tombstone Piledriver set up by Alexander accidentally nailing his partner Page delivered by The Bucks. Overall it was a shocker to see The Bucks lose to the IWL Newcomers but both teams deliver a great match.

Rosas/Savoi: With the match being a Ladder Match, we can expect anything & everything. The fans were behind Rosas which upset IWL Champion Johnny Savoi &OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA thus we saw a new side of Savoi..a mean streak. Savoi took it to Rosas in the beginning of the match to the likes we’ve never seen. The more the fans chanted for Rosas, the more Savoi took it to him. The ladder played a big part of the match as both wrestlers used it to their advantage, trying to hurt one another with many uses for the ladder. We thought the match was going to be won by Savoi as Rosas ended up being stuck on a bannister near the ceiling of the Civic Center only to spear Savoi from near the top of the ladder to the apron below. In the end, Rosas used a chair to hit Savoi off the ladder & the momentum knocked Savoi out of the ring & Rosas was able to claim the championship in the Hard Hitting, high flying match. Both men should be commended on their performance this evening & I do hope to see a rematch in the near future.
