A Recap of IWL Sicko Sircus 2012

Shot of the Night - IWL 10-12-12

This Chaos Column is a recap of IWL “Sicko Sircus 2012” at American Legion Post #299, Chino.  The crowd may’ve been smaller than what it was at “New Era 7” last August, but the action & the insanity remained.

P – Che Cabrera (a.k.a. Andres “Hed” Cabrera) p. Riki De La Paz w/ what looked like an Inverted Death Valley Driver.

1 – Magnum Pro Wrestling Showcase Match. T.J. Perkins made Ric Ellis tapout to the STF in a strong opener.

2 – *** NEW IWL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS! *** The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) def. Justin Ryke & Eric Watts when the brothers hit a series of Superkicks on Eric Watts, w/ Matt Jackson apparently scoring the winning pin to earn their 2nd run w/ the tag titles. No big surprise to see the two big men argue after the match.

3 – Relaxed Rules Match between the two members of The Mixtape Kings. Jerome “LTP” Robinson p. Jacob Diez w/ the Corkscrew Splash. There were no 10-counts, no DQ, or no countout in this match, and both men used chairs late in the match. “You made me do this!” Was what LTP told Jacob Diez before smacking him up the head w/ a chair, leading to the finish.

4 – Ray Rosas successfully defended the IWL Anarchy title, beating Scorpio Sky w/ a countering pin, w/ both feet on the bottom ropes that were not caught by Referee Jay Stone. Ray cut quite the promo after the strong title match, boasting about beating some of the region’s top names, and defending the said title elsewhere.

SM – The IWL Heavyweight title match was next after intermission, and it was turned into a Triple Threat Elimination Match between Johnny Saovi, Eric Watts, & Tyler Bateman (w/ Raze, replacing an injured B-Boy). Johnny Saovi managed to get out of Eric Watts’s Murder Bomb attempt to get a rollup pin to eliminate the big man, then found himself in a big duel w/ Tyler Bateman, getting busted open in the process after apparently eating a vicious headbutt. Both men spilled out to the floor, eventually resulting in a double-countout. With that, Johnny Saovi remains the IWL Heavyweight Champion.

M – The 4th Annual Sicko Sircus Battle Royal. 19 men & 1 woman–Raze–competed in a Royal Rumble format, w/ 1 min. intervals. Apparently, there were some bad blood between Raze & Chris Evans, as both wrestlers went after each other; Chris Kadillak & Famous B also went after each other; & Eric Cross, who started at #1, did stretch the rules out, picking his spots while staying outside the ring for most of the match. Final 6 were: Eric Cross, Chris Evans, Chris Kadillak, Famous B, Willie Mack, & Leo Blaze. Leo Blaze was eliminated by Willie Mack, following suit w/ fellow Fresh 2 Death member Josh Rozay. Both members of that tag team tried to go after Willie Mack, then Famous B; even while Chris Evans threw out Willie Mack in the process. For some reason, Famous B eliminated himself, flying over the top rope to crash onto Fresh 2 Death, and an out-of-the-ring brawl between F2D & Mack/B ensued. That left the 3 men who entered first as the last 3, and a big brawl followed. Eric Cross & Chris Kadillak went over the top rope next, and after fighting on the apron, Chris Kadillak knocked Eric Cross to the floor, much to the delight of the fans in attendance. The two remaining Chris’es–Kadillak & Evans–dueled it out, w/ both men going over the top rope late, then hanging onto the middle ropes. A few kicks later, Kadillak knocked off Evans, winning the battle royal, & earning his shot at Johnny Saovi & the IWL Heavyweight title at “Wreck The Halls 2012” on 12/21….provided the Mayan Prophecy doesn’t stand and we’re still here by then.
