Jay Cal’s View #96

The Clip of the Week is from Remembering Greatness event from a few weeks back honoring Pops Watson.  If you are looking for something different to do this weekend between shows, check out the Marvelous Masks event.  Have you heard the MPW Podcast yet?  EPIC War has left the building.  And this week’s up-coming events.

Clip of the Week
The Clip of the Week is the Main Event from Pro Wrestling Massive’s “Remembering Greatness“, Vintage Dragon defends his PWM Heavyweight Championship against Mikey O’Shea, Cooter and Extreme Loco.  This show was held as a fundraiser for Sam Knight.  His father Pops Watson passed away.  As the story goes, someone was able to sneak out with the majority of the money raised.  I have never met Sam, nor have I met Pops Watson.  But this was an extremely sad piece to read about.  If anyone would like to help to donate to raise funds for a headstone, you can donate here. http://isaiahwatson.chipin.com/dr-isaiah-pops-watsons-headstone

“Marvelous Masks”
If you are looking something to do this weekend at 1-4PM PM on Saturday The Japanese American National Museum & TARGET Bring you “Marvelous Masks.” This exhibit will feature some of the masked men from LCW and LuchaNation.
Admission is FREE!!…SEE YOU HERE!! — the Japanese American National Museum is located at 100 North Central Avenue, Los Angeles California 90012.  We’d love to post photos of anyone who goes to this event.  Email Jay.Cal@SoCalUNCENSORED.com

Millennium Pro Wrestling Radio.
MPW Radio had a guest co-host appearance by Whiskey Fists MacIntosh.  Host Jay Stone (yes that Jay Stone) gets into it with guest Hellkid.  G.Q. Money along with Spectre and “The Maybe Kid”  The podcast mentions of  Ryan K. Morals, Jonny Loquasto, the Hobo, the State of MPW along with discussions about SoCal Lucha, Texas, and a WHOLE variety of topics. This one of the wilder episodes of the show they have had.

EPIC WAR is OVER
I have been one of the guys that has flip flopped on Gary Yap.  One of the things I like best about Gary is that he tells it as he sees it.  Good or bad.  I was one of the guys waiting at the Glendale Studios (much like I’ll be doing this weekend), waiting to see the first EPIC Television Taping.  The card Gary put together was more or less as SoCal Wet Dream of Wrestling.  Danielson, Samoa Joe, SBS, Pearce, X-Foundation, Sabu, etc.  I was a sucker for it.  I loved that day, I love that show.  Even with freaking David Marquez making us cheer for every damn segment.  Then shit went down and Gary was gone.  People rolled over Gary.  I did too.  “F’ that guy for screwing over that talent!”  Then WAR came around.  And I knew Gary was behind it, but I was willing to give it another chance, because c’mon, Super Dragon, Austin Aries, Tony Kozina, he had put together some good talent, again.  I’ll be honest, I didn’t put to much stock into it.  I was studying at what Gary was doing now, being a family man I can’t get out to as many wrestling shows as I used to, but I was hoping to watch something special.  But Gary announced that due to low interest, he’s done.  You never say never in wrestling, but I think Gary’s through.  I know Gary’s got all kinds of projects he’s working on and I wish him nothing but success, but I’ll always wonder what kind of crazy shit Gary had in mind.
