Jay Cal’s View #36

The Prototype stares down Crash Holly

WWE returns with Summerslam, did you know there is a SoCal Connection? We’ll tell you how to meet CM Punk, Congrats to Jody Kristofferson, more faces to add and subtract from NWA Hollywood TV Taping, who will be returning to Battleground Pro next, and this weeks upcoming events.

The Prototype stares down Crash Holly

World Wrestling Entertainment is hosting its 24th annual SumerSlam event this Sunday from the Mecca of Sports Entertainment, the Staples Center.  What has quietly become a Southern California Treat marks the third consecutive time SummerSlam has been hosted in Los Angeles.  Fitting, the Main Event for this year’s SumerSlam Pay Per View is the showdown between the two disputed WWE World Champions, CM Punk and John Cena.

John Cena would get his start in wrestling with Ultimate Pro Wrestling.  UPW was known as a developmental federation for WWE.  Prototype would have a long feud with Smelly, even capturing the UPW Championship.   Cena would get opportunities to face off against Crash Holly and later C.W. Anderson before being signed to the WWE.

CM Punk would debut for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla at PWG’s “An Inch Longer Than Average.”  Punk would continue to work with PWG as well as the New Japan USA Toukon events, doing commentary in between his appearances in Ring of Honor and working pretty much every where else in the World.

More on NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood
As reported earlier this week, the NWA Hollywood group and Joey Ryan have decided to part ways, seemingly amicably. It is rumored that Ryan Taylor has also parted ways with the promotion.  The fans in attendance at 614 North La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles will also notice a few more missing faces. 2010 Wrestler of the Year Willie Mack has been on tour in the UK competing for All Star Wrestling, Superslam Wrestling, and in Germany wrestling for WXW. Willie Mack was written out of Mach-1 Storyline prior to the Centre City Slam has been touring Europe for the better part of 2 months. Mack will be back stateside for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s Battle of Los Angeles.

NWA Worlds Champion Adam Pearce along with Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana will not be in attendance at the KDOC’s Championship Wrestling from Hollywood Television Taping. Pearce and Cabana were both booked as part of the Juggalo Championship Wrestling event at Cave-in-Rock, IL.

We did report earlier this week that there would be new faces debuting in NWA Hollywood, joining Shawn Spears, El Hijo De L.A. Park and Oliver John will be Pro Wrestling Revolution’s El Mariachi and El Cazador Del Alma.

You can watch the NWA Hollywood video on-line in the video section.

Joey Ryan to Battleground Pro
In last weeks Jay Cal’s View, I had mention some leadership changes in Battleground Pro.  They recently added B-Boy to their next event who will be taking on Peter Avalon and Famous B Another name has been added to Battleground Pro Wrestling’s Burning Bridges, Joey Ryan.

Big Country receives a dark match with the WWE
Thanks to Fisherholic for pointing out that  “Big Country” Jody Kristofferson received a dark match prior to Tuesday’s SmackDown taping in Sacramento, California.  Kristofferson has been wrestling in Northern California and has appeared for Knokx Pro.  Jody is the son of musican/actor Kris Kristofferson.
