Jay Cal’s View #32

This week in my view; I’ve got word on the street that a former, influential wrestling promoter, has returned to SoCal, two former WWE Superstars are coming to SoCal for different promotions, Kizarny and Ultimo Dragon.  Do yo want to help preserve SoCal History, we need your help.  This edition of the Spotlight, I take a look back at the history of the Maximum Championship and try to figure out why there are two of them.  Plus, we’ve got all the upcoming events and more.

A new Revolution in SoCal?

Ron Rivera, a very influential wrestler and promoter in the early part of the decade appears to have taken the baby steps in getting back into promoting wrestling in Southern California. Rivera’s baby was Revolution Pro, a promotion that is widely associated with the boom of pro-wrestling in Southern California and was responsible for launching the careers of guys like Super Dragon, Disco Machine, Excalibur, Taro, Scorpio Sky, Shogun, and the crazy chickens you see in Lucha VaVoom; Los Gallineros. Rev Pro really brought a different element to wrestling in Southern California. Rivera also brought his wrestlers into XPW and even the original incarnation of NWA California, Car Consumer Pro.   Saturday Night, in a blend of music and wrestling not unlike the highly acclaimed 1986 Film, BodySlam starring Dirk Benedict, Tanya Roberts, and Roddy Piper. Bleached, Hunx & His Punx, and La Sera were the music acts performing at the event. This show was more for the Hollywood Hipsters the wrestling fanatics, but that didn’t stop Rivera from bringing out Los Gallineros and an early candidate for wrestlers of the year in 2011, Famous B. Famous B won the Mexican Heavyweight Title, although under a new name. This marks the third title in the Month of June that Famous B. has conquered.

As part of the a huge Lucha Libre Card in Oceanside, Ultimo Dragon will be returning to SoCal.  LLII this Saturday June 25th., also joining him will be Hijo De Dr. Wagner, El Genio, Silver Tiger, Lestat, SoCal Crazy, and Steve Pain.

Sinn Bodhi returns to Mach-1’s Friday Fight Night
Sinn Bodhi v. Disco Machine- He’s back!! Sinn Bodhi, with the fun, crazy antics that he brings to every show is back at “Friday Fight Night”.
