PWG Presents ”70 | 30” on March 24, 2007!

By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer

Big Pine, CA – This past weekend at “Album of the Year,” Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (http://www.prowrestlingguerilla.com) Commissioner Dino Winwood declared that 2007 is expected to be a year of tremendous growth for the company, and to help cope with that growth, Dino appointed Excalibur to the position of Commissioner of Food & Beverage. When Dino Winwood first appointed Excalibur to the post, it seemed like the Commissioner of Food & Beverage would oversee the concession stand and make sure there was ample cold water backstage. But Excalibur quickly made it clear that his jurisdiction included anyone who might consume, come in contact with, or think about food or beverages, and thus their actions, much to the chagrin of Dino Winwood. With two opposing political figureheads in PWG, the wrestlers and staff are left to figure out where the power lies; With the Department of Professional Wrestling, or the Department of Food & Beverage?Until the true base of power in PWG is revealed, the two departments have reached a working relationship, and the fruits of that agreement will be on display when PWG returns to the Van Nuys Armory in Van Nuys, CA with “70 | 30” on Saturday, March 24, 2007! The event is scheduled to feature:

PWG World Championship Match
El Generico (c) vs. “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels

— After defeating Davey Richards in a hard fought bout at “Album of the Year,” El Generico’s reign as PWG World Champion is off to an impressive start. But the road only gets tougher from here for Generico, because he will have to defend his title against former X-Division Champion “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels. Known around the world for his supreme skill in the art of professional wrestling, it is that expert ability that allows Daniels to hold an unavenged victory over the current PWG World Champion. Now the stakes are higher, because the man who comes away with the title here will go into PWG’s All Star Weekend V as World Champion. Will Christopher Daniels prove that he has earned every bit of his reputation as a world class competitor, or will El Generico be able to even the score with “The Fallen Angel” and hold on to his title in the process?

Tag Team Rematch
Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley) vs. Arrogance (Chris Bosh & Scott Lost)

— At “Holy Diver Down” Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley narrowly came away with a victory when they rolled up both members of Arrogance for a double pinfall. Completely shocked by this result, Chris Bosh and Scott Lost have been petitioning PWG Commissioner Dino Winwood for a rematch since the moment they reached the backstage area. With no love lost for The Dynasty or its members, Dino has denied every request, stating that “the Machine Guns won fair and square.” Now that the balance of power has shifted, Arrogance has turned their lobbying to the PWG Food & Beverage commission, and shortly after 9AM this past Monday, they were granted a rematch. Determined to not be taken by surprise a second time, Bosh and Lost have been watching every Motor City Machine Guns match they can get their hands on, looking for a weakness. With the World Tag Team Title Tournament looming in May, the winners of this match can potentially create some serious momentum for themselves. But which is the better team: the former PWG World Tag Team Champions, or the current ZERO1-MAX International Lightweight Tag Champions?

Number One Contender Match/RBTT2007BOLAT
Ronin vs. “Mr. Wrestling” Kevin Steen

Ronin has had some pretty big tests in his Battle to the 2007 Battle of Los Angeles Tour, but on March 24 at “70 | 30,” it could be his biggest challenge ever when he faces “Mr. Wrestling” Kevin Steen. It will be the first time these two will meet one-on-one, and the stakes are even higher for Ronin, whose six month win streak is on the line as he takes on the former PWG World Champion. But will Ronin be able to focus on the match at hand, the potential title shot, and the 2007 Battle of Los Angeles, or will the head games of The Dynasty’s Joey Ryan and “Scorpio Sky” prove to be all too effective?

Davey Richards vs. SHINGO

Top Gun Talwar vs. “Scorpio Sky”

— In an attempt to gain some measure of revenge against Joey Ryan and The Dynasty, Top Gun Talwar took on Joey in the first, and hopefully last, Tuxedo Match in PWG history. Unfortunately for Top Gun, he was defeated when he was stripped down to his undergarments by Joey Ryan, who then proceeded to run down Top Gun Talwar, and the rest of the PWG roster over the microphone. This only served to add insult to injury for Top Gun, who has now redoubled his efforts to destroy Joey Ryan and The Dynasty. However, Commissioner Winwood was unable to provide Top Gun with a rematch against Joey Ryan, so Talwar will get a shot at The Dynasty’s new ally, “Scorpio Sky,” instead. While The Dynasty has not claimed that the man actually is Scorpio Sky, he was wearing Sky’s trademark yellow and black mask, though this “Scorpio Sky” is visibly smaller than the man who lost a Loser Leaves PWG match a little over two months ago. Will this turn out to be another ploy by The Dynasty to subvert PWG, or will Top Gun Talwar expose the impostor and put an end to The Dynasty’s duplicity?

Opening Match Challenge
TJ Perkins vs. Joey Ryan

— At “Album of the Year,” Joey Ryan, along with “Scorpio Sky,” attacked Ronin and then proceeded to call him “nothing but an opening match wrestler.” Now Joey Ryan is taking it a step further, taking on Ronin’s last opponent, TJ Perkins, in a bout scheduled to open the show at “70 | 30.” Will Joey Ryan and the rest of The Dynasty be able to derail Ronin’s win streak and the RBTT2007BOLAT, or will TJ Perkins prove to be more than Joey Ryan bargained for and come away with a victory over the former PWG World Champion?

PWG’s World Tag Team Title Tournament set for May 19 & 20, 2007!

On May 19 & 20, 2007, professional wrestling returns to the West San Fernando Valley when PWG holds a two day, eight team Tag Team Tournament to crown the new PWG World Tag Team Champions. Last weekend at “Album of the Year,” newly promoted Commissioner of Food & Beverage Excalibur made his first act in power a highly unpopular one, stripping Cape Fear (El Generico & Quicksilver) of the PWG World Tag Team Titles. Put on the spot by this surprise announcement, Commissioner Dino Winwood was left with no choice but to hold a tournament to crown new World Tag Team Champions, with each Commissioner allowed to enter an equal number of teams in the tournament.

Anticipating just such an announcement, Excalibur proved to be one step ahead of Dino by re-instating Jay & Mark Briscoe, The Briscoe Brothers, and picking them as the first entry into the tournament. Shocked by return of The Briscoes to PWG, Commissioner Winwood was unable to come up with a suitable choice for his first entry off the top of his head. But now that he had time to give it some though, Dino Winwood is proud to announce that The Kings of Wrestling (Claudio Castagnoli & Chris Hero) will be his first choice to enter the tournament. With two teams down and six to go, what other teams will be chosen to fight for the PWG World Tag Team Titles? How will the political leanings of either Commissioner effect the makeup of the tournament? Find out on March 24 at “70 | 30” when Dino Winwood and Excalibur will announce their second entries into the tournament!

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s as-yet-untitled World Tag Team Title Tournament takes place at the Bernard Milken JCC on Saturday, May 19, 2007 and Sunday, May 20, 2007. The Bernard Milken JCC is located at 22622 Vanowen St., West Hills, CA 91307. Bell time and ticket information will be announced at a later date.
