WWE Raw – June 2nd, 2003 – Live Report

Raw Thoughts

I just got back from the June 2nd Raw in San Diego, and what good times it was. Here’s some thoughts.

I saw all of the Heat & dark matches and they were fun. I’d like to be able to differentiate between what was a dark match and what wasn’t but it isn’t easy to.Mark Jindrak defeated Aaron Aguilera (known on the indys as Hardcore Kidd): This match was a pretty good one with Aguilera being the face and getting a good pop. I kinda missed the ending but it looked like some sort of a simple roll-up. The crowd was all over Jindrak for it.

Frankie Kazarian defeated Satoshi Kojima (Keji Sakoda): Kojima was a heel just because he’s Asian, that was weird considering Frankie is normally a heel. The match was hot with a lot of good work like arm-drags and the like. Kazarian won with a STO type thing which may be what he calls the wave of the future.

Maven defeated Mike Knox: Maven is over big-time for not being that big of a star. Knox heeled well as a big man beating up on the smaller Maven. Maven won with a missile drop-kick.

Actual Raw stuff:

By far, The Rock got the biggest pops of the night. The San Diego crowd absolutely ate him up. Also, during the segment when the Rock was out in the crowd, he said something about how someone was touching his strudel but that got edited out for RAW.

From what I saw, Charles Robinson looked to be legit hurt after that Goldberg spear. Sgt. Slaughter even ran down during the commercial break to check on him, that was kind of a scary bit.

When Stone Cold was talking about the mystery ref and started mentioning someone crazy enough to do it, I instantly screamed Foley which picked up and was audible on TV.

When HHH came out, he did a brief tribute to Freddie Blassie that was pretty cool. I had no idea why he was doing it until I watched RAW though because the fans never heard the voice over about Freddie’s passing.

Before the face team got to the ring for the main event, the members of Evolution were all shoving Earl around and he was giving it right back.

The ending to that match left the crowd completely dumb-founded but it looked like Hurricane was knocked out for a few seconds after that pedigree.

After the show went off, Hurricane, Nash, and HBK just went to the back. No special treats for the live crowd so that kinda sucked.

Overall though, a great show and it was fun to be a part of it. I can’t wait for them to decide to hit us up with another PPV like they did with Vengeance in 2001.
